DESCRIPTION:The Toys and Games Camp at Clapping Hands Farm hosted Mon\, Jun 29-Fri\, Jul 3\, 9am-5pm is a joyous week of romping and running\, creative cooperative games\, and just pure playful fun\, including some traditional favorite games (yes – capture the flag!). Your children will spend the week entertaining themselves and one another using simple materials and raw imagination. This year’s featured toy-making projects have not yet been selected\, but previous years have included everything from traditional folk toys to hydraulic robots. \nIn the afternoon\, they have “Anything Goes” choice time\, where campers help design and can request or lead any of their favorite activities. This will include some of their favorite toy-making projects from years past: parachutes\, stomp rockets\, hula hoops\, puppets\, and puppet theaters are all on the list. For those who enjoy running around more\, there will be plenty of running game options in the afternoon as well! \nThe cost is $350 per child. Ages 7-13 are welcome. DESCRIPTION:Chatham County Parks and Recreation’s Summer Camp is a traditional-style camp featuring activities such as swimming\, boating\, fishing\, archery\, crafts\, outdoor and indoor games\, and more. The week three series takes place Mon\, Jul 13-Fri\, Jul 17\, 7am-6pm at Northwest District Park. More details are outlined below: \n\nDrop-off takes place between 7am and 8:30am. Pick-up is between 4:30pm and 6pm.\nBring lunch and snacks every day\, a water bottle\, sunscreen\, a swimsuit\, and a towel.\nDo not bring: electronics\, including cellphones\, weapons\, drugs\, aircraft\, and drones\, or any other items specifically stated as banned from Chatham County Parks.\n\nChildren ages 5-12 are welcome. SUMMARY:Teen Everything Camp at Clapping Hands Farm
DESCRIPTION:The Teen Everything Camp at Clapping Hands Farm\, hosted Mon\, Jul 13-Fri\, Jul 17\, 9am-5pm\, is all about teens spending the week outside playing\, exploring\, getting artsy\, and connecting with peers and Clapping Hands’ outstanding staff. Every morning and afternoon\, they will have featured guest artists and choice classes to pick from. You’ll get to a little of everything they have to offer at camp\, thanks to their talented staff\, special guests\, and extensive store of games\, art supplies\, and cool stuff! Possibilities include: \n\nAn unbelievable variety of craft projects and art supplies to use.\nBig games like capture the flag\, ultimate frisbee\, kickball\, and rainbow tag.\nMusic jams\, instrument lessons\, dancing\, and songwriting.\nJournaling\, reading\, and discussing topics you’re interested in.\nExploring the forest\, fields\, trails\, and pond with canoes.\n\nTeens will have the opportunity to request their favorite activities\, and they will include as many of them as possible\, making sure your teen’s identity\, ideas\, and preferences are heard and valued all week long. There will be a sharing for parents and families on Fri\, Jul 17 at 4pm\, followed by a potluck dinner! \nThe cost is $350 per teen. Ages 13-19 are welcome. DESCRIPTION:Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge is thrilled to offer their first-ever LEAP (Leaders for Ethics\, Animals\, and the Planet) Summer Camp\, held Mon\, Jul 20-Thu\, Jul 24\, 8am-4pm. A compassionate alternative to 4-H\, this FREE Summer Camp for incoming 9th-12th graders offers community building\, leadership training\, hands-on learning\, and quality time getting to know their animal residents. Participants will also learn all about the Refuge’s pioneering approach to designing and building animal habitats\, which they call Animal-Centered Design. Campers will participate in animal care in a sanctuary setting\, practice climate-friendly cooking with a vegan chef\, develop leadership skills\, engage in therapeutic art practices\, and build community with their staff\, volunteers\, animal residents\, and one another. \nThe cost is FREE\, and includes daily vegan snacks and lunches; applications are required. The deadline closes Fri\, May 29\, with accepted participants notified in early June. All inquiries can be sent to their Education Director\, Kate\, at kate@piedmontrefuge.org. \nPiedmont Farm Animal Refuge (PFAR) is a nonprofit organization that rescues farm animals in need\, educates the public about the cruelty of factory farms\, and promotes veganism by providing knowledge\, support\, and community to individuals interested in living cruelty-free lifestyles.
