They’ll also enjoy a variety of creative and interactive experiences\, such as arts and crafts\, active games\, storytelling\, improv theater\, and more! Your child will learn how to enjoy the great outdoors in their beautiful 6-acre farm setting. SUMMARY:Forest Tinkering Camp
DESCRIPTION:Forest Tinkering Camp at Sun Star Farm is a small group of 12 campers led by 2 counselors. Forest Tinkering Camp is very different from Tinkering School’s format.  Campers spend most of the day in the forest based in the camp’s new shelter\, learning and developing a variety of outdoor skills: flint-knapping to make arrowheads\, chopping wood for daily campfires used for cooking\, gathering native plants\, making fishing nets\, building a water filtration system\, whittling sticks into tools\, improving in archery\, and telling stories of yesteryear. As for projects\, they will be mostly individual.  Campers will need a certain level of maturity and be able to follow instructions to work and play safely in this environment. \nThey save 4 spots for girls during the registration period\, so they end up with a nice ratio of boys to girls.  If any of the “girl” spots are not taken by March 1st\, they open them to boys on the waitlist. There is a 6:1 counselor-to-camper ratio. This camp is for children ages 9-12. \nCamp is $499/week. Early care starts at 8am and is $35/week. SUMMARY:Tinkering School NC
DESCRIPTION:Tinkering School NC at Sun Star Farm is a small group of 12 campers led by 2 counselors and a 3rd counselor during peak building times. Once they cover skills and safety\, campers collaborate to create an awesome large-scale project based on a theme chosen late Monday/Tuesday morning\, depending on skill level\, interest\, and weather conditions. They use impact drivers\, cordless drills\, levels\, measuring tapes\, and other basic carpentry hand tools.  Each camper is given safety glasses and ear muff hearing protection. SUMMARY:Summer Camp at New Beginnings Farm
DESCRIPTION:New Beginnings Farm offers Summer Camps specializing in teaching basic balanced positions and horsemanship\, and in providing fun outdoor activities. This camp is perfect for horse lovers of all ages and levels who want a hands-on experience with horses. They have beginner school horses perfect for the most beginner and timid of riders\, as well as intermediate/advanced horses who can school higher-level dressage movements and jump 3’3 courses. New Beginnings Farm is all about meeting individuals’ wants and needs\, so they can facilitate both English and Western riding. Riding sessions will include trail rides\, riding with cows\, mounted games\, jumping\, dressage\, lunge lessons\, and bareback riding\, depending on the camper’s riding level and desires.  \nWhen not riding\, campers will learn all about horse care and participate in horse-related arts and crafts. The day is finished off with a self-packed lunch and supervised swimming. Campers with their own horse are welcome to keep their horse at New Beginnings Farm for the duration of the camp at no additional charge. They keep their camp numbers low to provide a more personal and safe environment\, so be sure to let them know if you are interested in attending so they can reserve your spot! Each afternoon\, they offer a workshop with their guest artist specifically for creative exploration and rejuvenation for parents\, while other artists and camp counselors work with the children. Camp days follow an easy flow that starts with a morning circle and conversation\, and reading aloud of quality children’s literature. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like\, but lunch is eaten together\, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree\, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. DESCRIPTION:Forest Tinkering Camp at Sun Star Farm is a small group of 12 campers led by 2 counselors. Forest Tinkering Camp is very different from Tinkering School’s format.  Campers spend most of the day in the forest based in the camp’s new shelter\, learning and developing a variety of outdoor skills: flint-knapping to make arrowheads\, chopping wood for daily campfires used for cooking\, gathering native plants\, making fishing nets\, building a water filtration system\, whittling sticks into tools\, improving in archery\, and telling stories of yesteryear. As for projects\, they will be mostly individual.  Campers will need a certain level of maturity and be able to follow instructions to work and play safely in this environment. \nThey save 4 spots for girls during the registration period\, so they end up with a nice ratio of boys to girls.  If any of the “girl” spots are not taken by March 1st\, they open them to boys on the waitlist. DESCRIPTION:New Beginnings Farm offers Summer Camps specializing in teaching basic balanced positions and horsemanship\, and in providing fun outdoor activities. This camp is perfect for horse lovers of all ages and levels who want a hands-on experience with horses. They have beginner school horses perfect for the most beginner and timid of riders\, as well as intermediate/advanced horses who can school higher-level dressage movements and jump 3’3 courses. New Beginnings Farm is all about meeting individuals’ wants and needs\, so they can facilitate both English and Western riding. Riding sessions will include trail rides\, riding with cows\, mounted games\, jumping\, dressage\, lunge lessons\, and bareback riding\, depending on the camper’s riding level and desires.  \nWhen not riding\, campers will learn all about horse care and participate in horse-related arts and crafts. The day is finished off with a self-packed lunch and supervised swimming. Campers with their own horse are welcome to keep their horse at New Beginnings Farm for the duration of the camp at no additional charge. They keep their camp numbers low to provide a more personal and safe environment\, so be sure to let them know if you are interested in attending so they can reserve your spot! DESCRIPTION:The Art Party Camp at Clapping Hands Farm\, hosted Mon\, Jun 15-Fri\, Jun 19\, 9am-2pm\, is a family camp for parents and young children to enjoy together. Each day\, the Clapping Hands Farm team sets out a spectacular array of visual arts exploration\, and a different guest artist shares music and dance experiences for an all-around fun time. At their art party\, come ready to: \n\nFinger paint.\nMake colorful slime.\nPlay in shaving cream.\nDraw with pastels\, colored chalk\, and other mediums.\nLearn to embroider on burlap or sew your own stuffed animal.\nMake your own toys.\n\nAnd so much more! Much of the day will be for adults and children to enjoy together. Each afternoon\, they offer a workshop with their guest artist specifically for creative exploration and rejuvenation for parents\, while other artists and camp counselors work with the children. Singing games provide a lively morning circle\, and days will end with a closing circle and a story told by Louise. \nThe cost is $350 for the first child + parents and $275 for each additional child. It is $50 for babies and toddlers under 2. Ages 2-8 and their parents are welcome. Per-day registration is $75 for the first child + parents\, $50 for each additional child\, and $10 for babies and toddlers under 2. Since pricing is so complicated\, no discounts are available for this camp\, but scholarships are available\, and no one is turned away. SUMMARY:Carolina Tiger Rescue: Discovery Camp
DESCRIPTION:Join Carolina Tiger Rescue for a Discovery Camp on Mon\, Jun 15-Fri\, Jun 19\, 9am-4pm. This weeklong camp\, designed for rising 3rd-5th graders\, allows your child to experience the sanctuary’s incredible world. They will visit the animals daily\, learn about the essential role carnivores play in their natural habitats\, find out what it takes to be a wildcat veterinarian\, practice wildlife biology skills\, and help some of the tigers express their creativity through painting!  Each week of camp is limited to 14 campers. To sign up\, you need to complete the registration forms and provide payment. Your camper’s spot isn’t reserved until you’ve completed both steps. \nThe cost is $350 per camper plus applicable taxes and fees\, with a mid-morning snack provided by Carolina Tiger Rescue. Before- and after-care are available for $25 and $35 per week\, respectively\, with before-care available at 8am and after-care available until 5pm. See more events at Carolina Tiger Rescue.

PFAR is a non-profit sanctuary for rescued farm animals located in Pittsboro\, NC. Designed for children ages 7-12\, this unique camp offers the opportunity to connect with and care for their incredible animal residents. \nCampers will engage in hands-on animal care\, including preparing nutritious meals and creating daily enrichment activities for the animals. They’ll also enjoy a variety of creative and interactive experiences\, such as arts and crafts\, active games\, storytelling\, improv theater\, and more! Every day\, campers will enjoy delicious vegan snacks and cook their own plant-based lunches alongside a talented vegan chef. \nThe heart of Camp Compassion is building meaningful connections with the amazing animals at the Refuge\, including goats\, sheep\, chickens\, turkeys\, ducks\, geese\, cows\, and one delightful guinea fowl named Frizzle! Each animal has a name\, a unique personality\, and a special story.
