You’re also welcome to come learn by doing; they’re happy to help folks get started\, especially if it supports camp scholarships. \nClasses usually take place at Clapping Hands Farm\, unless otherwise posted\, in their cozy\, heated studio space. There is no fee to participate\, but donations are welcome. Adults are welcome\, and crafty teens may come solo. Children are welcome with a parent who can take full responsibility (the space is small and not ideal for toddlers). The camp store will be open during crafternoon sessions and by appointment through December and early January. All proceeds support camp scholarships. DESCRIPTION:Join the Chatham County Historical Association for The Regulator Movement and the Revolution in the North Carolina Backcountry on Sun\, Mar 1\, 2pm-3:30pm. Carole Troxler\, Professor Emerita at Elon University\, will discuss the years leading up to the American Revolution\, in which yeoman farmers in North Carolina’s Piedmont farmland became increasingly angry about the corruption and dishonesty among the colonial officials who collected their taxes and enforced their laws. A wave of popular support for stricter regulation of these laws slowly spread throughout the Piedmont\, resulting in years of minor clashes between the farmer ‘Regulators’ and the royal militia. Although the militia finally defeated the Regulators at the Battle of Alamance in 1771\, the seeds of revolt were planted. This little-known rebellion in North Carolina highlighted the growing discontent among American colonists with colonial rule and helped set the stage for the American Revolution. \nThis event takes place indoors. The Chatham County Historic Courthouse and Museum is ADA-accessible. No pets allowed. Please leave your furry friends at home. What does it take to keep our animals physically and mentally healthy?\nVet Care: What happens when an animal gets sick? How do we care for aging animals? What challenges does our animal care staff face with our animals in terms of health?\nProblems in the Wild: What problems do the wild cousins of our residents face? What can we do to help?\n\nThis fast-paced\, STEM-centered program is sure to keep your student engaged while learning about unique challenges that arise when caring for large and small wild cats! SUMMARY:Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp at Clapping Hands Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join Clapping Hands Farm for their Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp\, hosted every Thursday\, Mar 5-Apr 16\, 9am-3:30pm. Clapping Hands is an arts and nature camp and retreat with a special love for community. Our homeschool camp workshops include visual arts\, crafts\, music\, theater\, and dance\, as well as engineering\, building\, nature exploration\, game creation\, and more! \nGENERAL SCHEDULE \n\nCamp opens with games\, Morning Circle\, and morning workshops in focus groups. Each session will have at least two Morning Workshop Focus Groups; campers choose one Focus Group to join for the entire 6-week session.\nLunch.\nAnything Goes and all-camp activities in the afternoon. Activities are different each day\, are based on campers’ requests\, and include opportunities to explore both focus groups. In other words\, if you are interested in both Focus Groups\, you can sign up for one of them for the morning and still be able to “taste” the others during Anything Goes.\nBuddy Group check-in and a Closing Circle before departure.\n\nSee this page for this program’s Focus Groups. \nDETAILS AND LOGISTICS \nCamp is $400 per child\, with full and partial scholarships available. Homeschool Camp serves children and teens ages 8-16. They accept older campers who are interested in their Focus Group topics. They also accept younger campers on a case-by-case basis. Parents\, adults\, and older teens are also needed as Counselors or Volunteers. Parent volunteers at Homeschool camp do so much to make this program fantastic! \nCamp at Clapping Hands Farm takes place outdoors for the most part. They generally run camp in all weather conditions unless there are hazardous driving conditions or it is cold AND wet. In other words\, if it’s raining and 70 degrees\, they will have camp. If it’s 30 degrees and not raining\, we will have camp. But if it’s 40 degrees and raining\, they will skip camp and use their weather make-up day (Thu\, Apr 23). This is a great opportunity to learn more about small farm life\, with plenty of fun for the whole family. The price is $10 per person at the gate\, with kids ages 2 and under receiving free admission. The Inn offers homemade lunch and other goodies for sale (including vegetarian options) for an additional cost. \nOpen Barns are rain or shine\, so if it’s cold\, make sure to bundle up\, and if it’s wet\, wear your boots! Most of the event takes place under cover (and the baby goats will help keep you warm)! Free parking is available on-site. No pets are allowed. \nBook a stay at the inn to get in on all the baby goat fun\, including daily baby bottle feedings! 2-hour private barn tours are also available throughout the season (February-April 2026). Students will spend a morning on each of the following topics: \n\nAnimal Behavior: What is it\, and how can understanding it help us better care for animals?\nEnclosure Design and Enrichment: What requirements have to be met to house large and small carnivores? What does it take to keep our animals physically and mentally healthy?\nVet Care: What happens when an animal gets sick? How do we care for aging animals? What challenges does our animal care staff face with our animals in terms of health?\nProblems in the Wild: What problems do the wild cousins of our residents face? What can we do to help?\n\nThis fast-paced\, STEM-centered program is sure to keep your student engaged while learning about unique challenges that arise when caring for large and small wild cats! SUMMARY:Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp at Clapping Hands Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join Clapping Hands Farm for their Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp\, hosted every Thursday\, Mar 5-Apr 16\, 9am-3:30pm. Clapping Hands is an arts and nature camp and retreat with a special love for community. Our homeschool camp workshops include visual arts\, crafts\, music\, theater\, and dance\, as well as engineering\, building\, nature exploration\, game creation\, and more! \nGENERAL SCHEDULE \n\nCamp opens with games\, Morning Circle\, and morning workshops in focus groups. Each session will have at least two Morning Workshop Focus Groups; campers choose one Focus Group to join for the entire 6-week session.\nLunch.\nAnything Goes and all-camp activities in the afternoon. Activities are different each day\, are based on campers’ requests\, and include opportunities to explore both focus groups. In other words\, if you are interested in both Focus Groups\, you can sign up for one of them for the morning and still be able to “taste” the others during Anything Goes.\nBuddy Group check-in and a Closing Circle before departure.\n\nSee this page for this program’s Focus Groups. \nDETAILS AND LOGISTICS \nCamp is $400 per child\, with full and partial scholarships available. Homeschool Camp serves children and teens ages 8-16. They accept older campers who are interested in their Focus Group topics. They also accept younger campers on a case-by-case basis. Parents\, adults\, and older teens are also needed as Counselors or Volunteers. Parent volunteers at Homeschool camp do so much to make this program fantastic! \nCamp at Clapping Hands Farm takes place outdoors for the most part. They generally run camp in all weather conditions unless there are hazardous driving conditions or it is cold AND wet. In other words\, if it’s raining and 70 degrees\, they will have camp. If it’s 30 degrees and not raining\, we will have camp. But if it’s 40 degrees and raining\, they will skip camp and use their weather make-up day (Thu\, Apr 23). During the winter session\, they will have a heated studio available that can accommodate one group. Please note that no class will take place on Thu\, Apr 2. \nSee more events at Clapping Hands Farm.

Following the race\, enjoy the day in Chatham County\, exploring our attractions\, restaurants\, and breweries. \nEVENT DETAILS \nBeginning at the ALL NEW Chatham YMCA (120 Parkland Drive\, Pittsboro)\, you’ll race through Chatham Park. Runners will follow greenways\, sidewalks\, and shoulders. The 5K and 10K will share the course with 5K runners\, turning around slightly earlier. Walkers are welcome. Pets are not allowed on the race course. Baby strollers/joggers are permitted\, but for the safety of all participants\, please start at the back behind the runners and walkers. \nRace day parking will be available at the Chatham YMCA. DESCRIPTION:Join Clean Up Jordan Lake for their 2026 Annual Spring Cleanup on Sat\, Mar 14\, 8:30am-12pm. Clean Jordan Lake is joining a group of local organizations hosting cleanup events as part of Creek Week activities\, including the Chatham County\, Orange County\, and Keep Durham Beautiful. Assignments include: \n\nWalkers: You will be divided into groups at registration.\nBoaters: Boaters are needed to ferry some volunteers to their cleanup track and back\, and also to help haul trash back to the dumpster at the Corps Bulkhead. Boaters who wish to ferry volunteers only are welcome. They will loan 2-way radios to boaters for communication.\nKayakers: Come to the registration table at 8:45am to receive assignments from CJL leaders.\n\nThis year\, they continue their tradition of offering a Trash Treasure Hunt. Items marked by “CJL TTH” are shown to the track captain\, who will issue a CJL business card redeemable for a merchandise prize at the registration table. Coffee and pastries will be available during registration. \nAll volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and work gloves (provided or bring your own). They strongly recommend long pants\, a long-sleeve shirt\, and a hat. Shoreline Track Captains will be present to guide volunteers. Volunteers will be provided with bags\, trash grabbers\, first-aid kits\, water\, and gloves\, if needed. Pontoon boat and operator courtesy of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers \nAll participants must complete a liability waiver form online before the event. Convenient parking is available for guests with disabilities\, and CCACC has wheelchair-accessible entrances\, restrooms\, and water fountains. Explore the barn\, scratch a mama goat behind the ears\, and cuddle with some adorable baby goats. This is a great opportunity to learn more about small farm life\, with plenty of fun for the whole family. The price is $10 per person at the gate\, with kids ages 2 and under receiving free admission. The Inn offers homemade lunch and other goodies for sale (including vegetarian options) for an additional cost. \nOpen Barns are rain or shine\, so if it’s cold\, make sure to bundle up\, and if it’s wet\, wear your boots! Most of the event takes place under cover (and the baby goats will help keep you warm)! Free parking is available on-site. No pets are allowed. \nBook a stay at the inn to get in on all the baby goat fun\, including daily baby bottle feedings! 2-hour private barn tours are also available throughout the season (February-April 2026). Celebrity Dairy will guide you through how to feed the goats and answer all your goat-related questions. Bookings are $225 for groups of up to 15 and $15 per additional guest.
