They’ve walked a wide line of roots-based sounds from jumping and swinging to rocking and rolling and through the tunnels of rhythm and blues. With a slight recent change in the lineup\, they have upped the ante on the R&B and even delved into a little soul.  \nTheir set lists include many originals mixed with material from other musical vaults. In all cases\, it’s hard not to dance to these guys or be entertained by their stage manners. Dancing and smiling\, who doesn’t like that? They’ve been doing it a long time\, and there’s a reason for that……they wouldn’t know what else to do. Come see for yourself. \nThere is no cover for music\, but tips for the musicians are encouraged. Most events are rain or shine; if they are in a position of having to cancel\, they will try to do so well in advance. DESCRIPTION:Join McIntyre’s Books for Joseph Bathanti\, Too Glorious to Even Long For on Certain Days on Sat\, Aug 30\, 11am-12pm. \nBOOK SUMMARY \n\n\nJoseph Bathanti’s novella\, “Too Glorious to Even Long for on Certain Days\,” follows Fritz Sweeney through a pivotal summer in 1973\, set against the backdrop of working-class Pittsburgh. Fritz grapples with an existential crisis triggered by his job at Acme Toy Warehouse\, which he finds absurd and meaningless. This sense of absurdity is deepened by his fascination with Albert Camus’s philosophy\, as seen in “The Myth of Sisyphus” and “The Stranger\,” which he was introduced to during his first college literature class by an enigmatic Vietnam veteran professor. Further complicating Fritz’s life is his relationship with Claire Raffo\, his mysterious girlfriend with whom he is precariously and hopelessly entangled. Throughout Too Glorious to Even Long for on Certain Days\, Fritz confronts numerous moral crossroads\, challenging his beliefs\, understanding of existence\, and his place in an ultimately unforgiving world. \n\n\nABOUT THE AUTHOR \nJoseph Bathanti is the former North Carolina Poet Laureate (2012-14); recipient of the North Carolina Award in Literature\, the state’s highest civilian honor; and an inductee of the North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame. Author of over twenty books\, Bathanti is McFarlane Family Distinguished Professor of Interdisciplinary Education at Appalachian State University in Boone\, North Carolina\, and is the recipient of the Board of Governors Excellence in Teaching Award. He served as the 2016 Charles George VA Medical Center Writer-in-Residence in Asheville\, NC\, and is the co-founder of the Medical Center’s Creative Writing Program. His co-edited volume\, The Anthology of Black Mountain College Poetry\, from the University of North Carolina Press\, was released in February 2025. It’s a welcoming\, inclusive\, and friendly atmosphere that encourages healthy\, happy living. \nFearrington Farmers Market has more than 3 dozen members and is now in its 30th season. Not all vendors are there every week\, but some vendors are there every week\, year-round. Each market features live music. Vendors include Celebrity Dairy\, In Good Heart Farm\, and bmc brewing. Wine Shop for A Night of Giving: Vidas de Esperanza Fundraiser on Sun\, Sep 7\, 6:30pm-8:30pm. \nMany of you may not know\, but Vino!! is very dedicated to the non-profit\, Vidas de Esperanza (they donate Wine Fest proceeds to the cause). Vidas is dedicated to enhancing the lives of Chatham County residents by increasing access to education\, technology\, and healthcare. In particular\, Vidas runs a free dental and medical clinic on the last Saturday of every month in Siler City. Anna’s father\, a physician at UNC for 50 years\, works at the clinic and got UNC Hospitals involved – they now send physicians and dentists to work at the clinic monthly.  This is an entirely non-profit organization – 100% of any funds received go directly to the mission. No doctors or owners receive any payment. \nTo generate funds for Vidas\, Vino!! is hosting this night of giving. The cost is $150 per person and includes an evening of connection and fun during a wine tasting experience\, featuring a curated selection of high-end wines\, light bites\, and a heartfelt mission.
