That doesn’t mean\, though\, that the ghosts of the Old North State have gone away. \nIn this anthology\, readers might glimpse some of the ghostly apparitions\, headless fiends\, and creepy hollers they heard about around their childhood campfires. Now\, fifteen of the state’s finest contemporary prose writers and poets have reimagined these stories—bringing us fresh tales that are bound to scare the living daylights out of us all over again. \nThe Devil’s Done Come Back reclaims these old ghost tales as living stories\, told and retold to frighten and delight. \n\n\nABOUT THE AUTHOR \nEditor Ed Southern is the author of “Fight Songs: A Story of Love and Sports in a Complicated South\, The Jamestown Adventure\, Voices of the American Revolution in the Carolinas\,” and the short-story collection “Parlous Angels.” His work has appeared in South Writ Large\, The Bitter Southerner\, the North Carolina Literary Review\, the Asheville Poetry Review\, StorySouth\, and elsewhere. Since 2008\, he has been the executive director of the North Carolina Writers’ Network. He lives in Winston-Salem\, NC. \nRoss White is the director of Bull City Press\, an independent publisher of poetry\, fiction\, and nonfiction. He is the author of “Charm Offensive”\, winner of the Sexton Prize for Poetry\, and three chapbooks: “How We Came Upon the Colony”\, “The Polite Society”\, and “Valley of Want”. His poems have appeared in American Poetry Review\, New England Review\, POETRY\, Ploughshares\, Poetry Daily\, and The Southern Review\, among others. DESCRIPTION:Join Vino’s!! next Wine Education 101 Seminar: The Pacific Northwest on Wed\, Oct 15\, 6pm-7pm. The Pacific Northwest wine region comprises Oregon and Washington. These states are excellent wine-producing regions. What sets them apart from many other New World wine-producing areas is their ability to straddle the stylistic divide between Old and New World. Both states benefit from warm\, stable West Coast weather. It is the warm weather that yields the lively\, ripe fruit of New World wines. However\, their northern longitude gives them the benefit of cool nights\, allowing the grapes to retain that refreshing acidity that Old World wines are known for. The predominant grape varietals in these regions are Chardonnay\, Pinot Gris\, Merlot\, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Over the years\, Oregon has become known as the home to outstanding Pinot Noirs\, ones that rival the top Pinot Noirs from across the world. Washington’s history doesn’t go back as far as that of California\, but it has recently had a tremendous increase in its quality curve and is the second-largest wine-producing state in the United States! \nThis wine seminar will discuss the different AVAs within Oregon and Washington and cover all the predominant grape varietals grown in these areas.
