DESCRIPTION:Join McIntyre’s Books for the biennial return of the CrimeScene Killer Cocktail and Mystery Bookfest during the weekend of Fri\, Feb 6-Sat\, Feb 7\, 2026. The Mystery Bookfest takes place all day Saturday. McIntyre’s Mystery Guru Pete Mock is the emcee and creator of the weekend. Pete reads something on the order of 200+ mysteries a year\, and he’s the sole judge and juror of the annual Beltie Mystery Prize\, his annual round-up of the best murder mysteries. Not only does he read ‘em all\, but he also shares his enthusiasm for the genre with everyone. \nFirst held in early 2020\, the inaugural CrimeScene Bookfest was a weekend filled with some of Fearrington’s favorite mystery authors\, who read\, held panel discussions\, and rubbed elbows at a cocktail party. This year’s CrimeScene Mystery Bookfest will be to die for! The Killer Cocktail will take place on Friday evening\, 6pm-9pm. McIntyre’s Mystery Guru Pete Mock is the emcee and creator of the weekend. Pete reads something on the order of 200+ mysteries a year\, and he’s the sole judge and juror of the annual Beltie Mystery Prize\, his annual round-up of the best murder mysteries. Not only does he read ‘em all\, but he also shares his enthusiasm for the genre with everyone. \nFirst held in early 2020\, the inaugural CrimeScene Bookfest was a weekend filled with some of Fearrington’s favorite mystery authors\, who read\, held panel discussions\, and rubbed elbows at a cocktail party. This year’s killer cocktail party will be to die for! Stay tuned for a list of this year’s guest authors and more details. \nThis event is $50 per person and takes place in the Fearrington Barn. Fearrington Village is part of the Chatham County Craft Beverages & Country Inns Trail. He is the author of The Red Scare Murders (Soho Press\, 2025)\, as well as the 42nd Street Library mysteries\, featuring Raymond Ambler\, curator of the library’s (fictional) crime fiction collection. He’s also the author of three mysteries featuring New York City bartender Brian McNulty\, and has published short stories in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine and Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine. Over the years\, he has been a college professor\, union organizer\, and labor journalist\, and has tended bar at about two dozen bars. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in fiction writing from Columbia University School of the Arts and teaches writing at The Writer’s Center in Bethesda\, Maryland. \nEryk Pruitt is a screenwriter\, author\, and filmmaker living in Durham\, NC\, with his wife Lana and his cat Busey. In 2011\, he wrote and produced the short film FOODIE\, which won eight top awards at more than 16 film festivals. Since then\, he has written several others\, including KEEPSAKE\, LIYANA\, ON COMMAND\, and THE HOODOO OF SWEET MAMA ROSA. Pruitt’s short fiction has appeared in The Avalon Literary Review\, Thuglit\, Pulp Modern\, and Zymbol\, among others\, and in 2014 was a finalist for a Derringer Award.
