DESCRIPTION:Join the Chatham Artist’s Guild for a Photographing 3-D Art workshop on Sun\, Apr 26\, 2pm-4pm. Photographing 3-D artwork presents unique challenges. How do you capture the dimensionality\, surface quality\, colors\, and texture of an object? Join Amy and Greg Wandless in their studio to learn how they capture the unique aspects of their beautiful and functional pottery and woodworking\, from setting up a piece to be photographed to some helpful tips on editing your photos. Find out how they developed their techniques – what’s worked for them in the past and what to look out for. You’ll have an opportunity to discuss photographing your own artwork; they will even set up a few pieces brought by participants to see how lighting and background enhance 3-D artwork! \nTo register\, please click here before Sun\, Apr 19\, 2026. DESCRIPTION:CORA’s Empty Bowls 2026 is its signature annual fundraising event\, held this year on Sat\, Feb 28\, 5pm-7pm. At Empty Bowls\, guests enjoy a delicious dinner featuring soup tastings from many local restaurants\, spend a fun evening in fellowship with other supporters\, and go home with a beautiful piece of handmade local pottery as a reminder of the empty bowls they help fill for neighbors in need. \nDuring the Fund-a-Need portion of Empty Bowls\, guests have the opportunity to make a direct and meaningful impact by contributing to CORA’s efforts to fight food insecurity. SUMMARY:Love Bird Scavenger Hunt at White Pines
DESCRIPTION:Join Triangle Land Conservancy for a Love Bird Scavenger Hunt in celebration of National Bird Feeding Month on Sat\, Feb 14\, and Sun\, Feb 15 at White Pines Nature Preserve. You’re invited to show your love for nature on Valentine’s Day weekend with a special outdoor scavenger hunt. Local pottery artist Courtney Pernell\, owner of Bayleaf market\, is a TLC supporter and is excited to merge her passions for trails\, nature\, and pottery to share that love with the wider community. Visitors to TLC’s seven public nature preserves can search for her handmade pottery “love birds” along the trails.  If you are lucky enough to find one\, it becomes TLC’s gift to you! They ask that once you find a pottery bird\, snap a picture of it on the trail and post it to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtags #hikeTLC and #pottercourt. Please limit your pottery gift to one per person. This fun event coincides with the Great Backyard Bird Count (Feb 13-16\, 2026)\, a global community science event that takes place each February and encourages people to observe and record bird sightings wherever they are. As you search for the clay creations\, you may also spot the real birds that call these spaces home.  \nThis free event takes place outdoors. SUMMARY:Holiday Bazaar at Bynum Front Porch
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for the annual Holiday Bazaar at Bynum Front Porch on Sat\, Nov 29\, 10am-2pm. The Saturday after Thanksgiving\, Bynum wakes up with a sparkle in the air. Down by the old general store\, the front porch is strung with garland and twinkle lights\, and the smell of Bynum’s famous chicken cracker stew drifts out to meet the crowd. \nIt’s Holiday Bazaar day\, and the place hums like a hive. Inside\, tables are stacked with local treasures — hand-thrown pottery still warm from the kiln\, jewel-toned scarves\, hand-poured soaps wrapped in brown paper\, and framed photographs that catch the Haw River in every season. Paintings lean in little clusters\, each one carrying the signature of a neighbor you’ve probably shared a laugh with. Shoppers drift from table to table\, warm cider in one hand\, gift list in the other. \nOutside\, the Bynum Front Porch Pickers are in full swing. Banjo\, fiddle\, guitar — the music rolls out over the lawn\, spilling into the street where folks line up for hot stew\, talking and laughing in puffs of white breath. \nAnd just steps from the front porch\, another tradition is in full gear — Christmas tree pickup. Trucks and SUVs pull in and out\, loading up fresh-cut pines that will soon stand in living rooms all over Chatham County.
