DESCRIPTION:Join the Chatham Arts Council for Holds Many Secrets. Hides Many Stories: The Robeson Creek Greenway Project on Sat\, May 2\, 1pm-2:30pm at the Robeson Creek Greenway in Pittsboro. What does it feel like to really notice the world around you? This new installation by Felix Obelix (aka Wendy Spitzer) weaves together community voices\, field recordings\, original music\, and visual art into an immersive experience along the Robeson Creek Greenway in Pittsboro. Come walk\, listen\, and experience your community in a new way during the project’s premiere. \nThe project comprises a quasi-documentary audio piece\, divided into two ~11-minute sections. You’ll walk together\, listening to segment 1 in one direction\, then turn around and listen to segment 2 as you walk back to the origin point. The entire audio piece runs ~22 minutes. Then\, there will be a short presentation of the public artwork also made for this project (based on community-generated\, greenway-related bird data!)\, followed by a Q&A with the artist. \nThis free community event takes place outdoors. Participants will meet at the S. Small Street entrance to the greenway. Please be mindful of neighbors’ lawns and driveways when parking. Bring your smartphone and headphones/earbuds! You will access the audio project on your phone and listen to it through your headphones while walking the greenway together. Make sure to bring a water bottle and shoes you can walk in! Robeson Creek Greenway is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers; it is paved and relatively flat. \nParking is available along S. Small Street\, or you can use the public parking lot at Main Street Station. Please cross East Street (Business 64) if you choose to park there. The S. As the evening goes on\, the couple ends up in a heated argument that sends Asa to sleep out in their garage apartment for the first time in twenty-five years of marriage. The next morning\, he wakes to blue sky and an altered world.    \nUnfolding over a few tense weeks and told from multiple points of view\, this novel explores how a tragedy can assume as many shapes as the people it touches. Asa finds himself reckoning with torn feelings about his marriage and confusion about how to proceed in his complicated relationships with his adult children. DESCRIPTION:Join Chatham Community Library and Friends of the Lower Haw for Trails and Treats on Sat\, May 2\, 10am-11am. Trails and Treats is the first statewide trail guide written by women in NC\, combining two favorite activities – hiking and trail running – with tasty treats that can top off your outdoor adventures. Authors Hollis Oberlies and Palmer McIntyre created this guidebook for people of all ages and abilities who want to plan a fun day exploring our state. They have selected hikes and runs in four general areas of the state – the mountains\, the Triad\, the Triangle\, and the Charlotte area. Often\, there is a trail near your home that will bring joy and gratitude\, and a workout if that’s your goal. The authors have included trail tips to help you plan your adventures\, as well as recommendations for some tasty local places to eat. Their book also includes some of their favorite breakfast and trail snack recipes that are easy to whip up\, tasty\, and nourishing. The authors hope this guide inspires you to try these trails and eats\, and to explore others throughout North Carolina or wherever you go! \nBecause 2026 is the 20th Anniversary of the Haw River Trail\, this event will include a brief presentation by Friends of Lower Haw River about the Haw River State Trail and Chatham County’s local gem\, the Lower Haw River State Natural Area. Friends of Lower Haw River is a member of the trail organizations Friends of Haw River State Trail and the Great Trails State Coalition. The event is free and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:Join Quilted Needle for this Jelly Roll Rug Class\, a fun and creative two-part class where you will learn how to make a beautiful and durable Jelly Roll Rug using a pre-cut jelly roll and cotton batting. This hands-on class will guide you through the entire process\, from strip preparation and sewing to coiling and finishing. Perfect for those with basic sewing machine knowledge who are ready to take their skills to the next level! This class is ideal for advanced beginners. Class is $75 for both sessions\, and materials must be purchased from Quilted Needle. Each session is 3.5 hours. There may be a need for homework between classes if students are going to finish the rug by the end of the second session. A maximum of 6 students is allowed per session. Requirements include: \n\nA sewing machine in good working condition\, recently cleaned\, and capable of a minimum 5.0 wide zig-zag stitch with an open-toe foot.\nPre-load five bobbins to minimize interrupts while sewing (you may need more during the class).\nBasic sewing knowledge.\n\nClasses are hosted on the following dates: \n\nTue\, Apr 28 and Thu\, Apr 30\, 4:30pm-8pm Session One.\nTue\, May 5 and Thu\, May 7\, 10am-1:30pm Session Two.\n\nSee more events at Quilted Needle.
