Participants will wander through vibrant fields to hand-pick their own seasonal flowers\, crafting a unique autumnal arrangement.  Instead of a traditional vase\, you’ll use a charming pumpkin cookie jar to showcase your floral masterpiece\, adding a cozy\, festive touch. This workshop is perfect for a girls’ afternoon out\, a special mother-daughter bonding experience\, or a fun date for couples. \nThis class takes place at the Jordan Lake Farms Pavilion. The cost is $80 per arrangement participant and $20 for participant guest/floral helpers. The workshop includes a pumpkin-shaped cookie jar that will come in handy for the fall season\, a bucket full of flowers\, fall decorations\, step-by-step instructions\, tools\, and a glass of wine. The tour blends Chatham’s rich heritage with stories and legends\, all presented by costumed interpreters portraying figures from the town’s past. \nThe journey begins at the historic courthouse and winds through old cemeteries\, churches\, and hidden corners\, with each stop offering a window into the lives of the people and moments that shaped Pittsboro. The tour will take place on the following dates: \n\nSat\, Oct 18\, 5:30pm-7:30pm.\nSun\, Oct 19\, 5:30pm-7:30pm.\n\nEVENT DETAILS \n\nCheck-in is at 5:15pm\, with the tour starting promptly at 5:30pm both days.\nAge Requirement: 12 years and older only (no pets or strollers).\nWeather: Rain or shine (rescheduled only in case of severe weather).\nThis tour takes place indoors and outside\, lasting between 90 and 120 minutes.\nBring a flashlight. Wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes.\nA liability waiver will be required at check-in.\nLimited to 60 participants per evening\, split into three small groups for a more personal experience.\nFree parking is available behind the new Chatham County Courthouse and Justice Center.\nPets are not allowed; please leave your furry friends at home.\nAccessibility: Tour participants will need to be able to navigate stairs\, outdoor sidewalks\, and grassy areas.\n\nTickets are $25 for CCHA members and $30 per person for nonmembers. Commissioned on the eve of World War II\, they bore the new burden of command while at the forefront of the Pacific War’s most significant and most pivotal campaigns. They felt the wind and spray in their faces\, and the percussion of ships’ guns and depth charges at the pivotal moment in their lives and careers\, making their experiences unusually compelling\, heartbreaking\, and—most assuredly—instructive. \nFrom Pearl Harbor through the end of the war\, these men fought and struggled for survival as part of the U.S. Navy’s Asiatic Fleet. In the early months of the conflict\, they tried to stem the onslaught of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Some were captured and sent to brutal prisoner-of-war camps. Others took to the air from aircraft carriers as members of torpedo\, bomber\, and fighter squadrons during the Battles of the Coral Sea and Midway. Later in the war\, a number served aboard submarines\, experiencing some of the most legendary patrols in the history of the Silent Service. The young men who graduated from the Naval Academy in 1938 earned medals and fame\, left legacies of heroism and loss\, and sparked tales of renown and bravery that reverberate today. \n\n\nABOUT THE AUTHOR \nJustin Laborde\, PhD\, is a strategic consultant and frequent speaker on consumer trends\, marketplace insights\, and business growth strategies for Fortune 500 companies. Raised in New Orleans\, Louisiana\, Justin now lives with his wife\, Amanda\, and their three children in Cary\, North Carolina. Justin’s grandfather\, Alden Laborde\, was a member of the Class of 1938. Upon his death\, Justin obtained a 1938 edition of The Lucky Bag\, the Naval Academy’s yearbook.
