Camp days will include movement\, thanksgiving\, play\, a selection of different workshops\, leisurely lunches\, a check-in with a small group\, and circles to begin and end the day. Along with lots of permission to do what you are called to do\, including a lot of beautiful “nothing” if that is what you choose\, Clapping Hands Farm invites you to bring home a new commitment to yourself and the things that make you happy. \nLouise Omoto Kessel will be your guide for this week\, along with an excellent selection of guest artists. Louise is a storyteller and a printmaker\, and she loves to felt\, collage\, and make all manner of things. She is also the founder and director of Clapping Hands Farm and the mother of two young adults. \nTrans\, non-binary\, gender-fluid\, and gender-creative humans who want to participate in Women’s Week Camp are welcome! Ages 18+ are welcome. The cost is $325 per person. Scholarships are available\, and no one is turned away. Chatham County residents receive a $25 discount. You may sign up by the day. DESCRIPTION:Join The Plant for Live Music with Awen Family Band on Sun\, May 24\, 3pm-6pm. Awen Family Band is a nationally touring world boogie collective founded by singer-songwriter and coddie-wompler Tim Husk in the summer of 2019. The Awen Family played their first show at Kings in Raleigh\, NC\, on June 5th and has since performed at festivals\, concert series\, venues\, parks\, and backyards around the country. The band has featured an ever-changing all-star cast of artists who believe they are moving the message from one plane to another. “We don’t create the lesson\, only move the message.” They don’t create the art\, but are vessels for the great spirit to move through them\, to inspire and to be inspired by the life around them. The band has featured members of Toubab Krewe\, Big Something\, Dr. Bacon\, Charlie Hunter\, The Kind Thieves\, The Fundamentals\, Self Help\, TUB\, Firewater Tent Revival\, Custard Pie\, Mellow Swells\, The Moon Unit\, FRUTE\, and many other acts. Blending roots music from around the globe\, such as Zydeco\, Bluegrass\, Funk\, West African Traditional Music\, Old Time\, Indie\, Swing\, Celtic\, Folk\, Psychedelic\, Jam\, Boogie\, and many more\, topped with their own unique sound and lyrics to spread the message for all who seek to hear. \nThere is no cover for music\, but tips for the musicians are encouraged. Most events are rain or shine; if they have to cancel\, they will do so as far in advance as possible. Free parking is available onsite. Along with lots of permission to do what you are called to do\, including a lot of beautiful “nothing” if that is what you choose\, Clapping Hands Farm invites you to bring home a new commitment to yourself and the things that make you happy. \nLouise Omoto Kessel will be your guide for this week\, along with an excellent selection of guest artists. Louise is a storyteller and a printmaker\, and she loves to felt\, collage\, and make all manner of things. She is also the founder and director of Clapping Hands Farm and the mother of two young adults. \nTrans\, non-binary\, gender-fluid\, and gender-creative humans who want to participate in Women’s Week Camp are welcome! Ages 18+ are welcome. The cost is $325 per person. Scholarships are available\, and no one is turned away. Chatham County residents receive a $25 discount. You may sign up by the day.
