DESCRIPTION:Join Clapping Hands Farm for their Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp\, hosted every Thursday\, Mar 5-Apr 16\, 9am-3:30pm. Clapping Hands is an arts and nature camp and retreat with a special love for community. Our homeschool camp workshops include visual arts\, crafts\, music\, theater\, and dance\, as well as engineering\, building\, nature exploration\, game creation\, and more! \nGENERAL SCHEDULE \n\nCamp opens with games\, Morning Circle\, and morning workshops in focus groups. Each session will have at least two Morning Workshop Focus Groups; campers choose one Focus Group to join for the entire 6-week session.\nLunch.\nAnything Goes and all-camp activities in the afternoon. Activities are different each day\, are based on campers’ requests\, and include opportunities to explore both focus groups. In other words\, if you are interested in both Focus Groups\, you can sign up for one of them for the morning and still be able to “taste” the others during Anything Goes.\nBuddy Group check-in and a Closing Circle before departure.\n\nSee this page for this program’s Focus Groups. \nDETAILS AND LOGISTICS \nCamp is $400 per child\, with full and partial scholarships available. Homeschool Camp serves children and teens ages 8-16. They accept older campers who are interested in their Focus Group topics. They also accept younger campers on a case-by-case basis. Parents\, adults\, and older teens are also needed as Counselors or Volunteers. Parent volunteers at Homeschool camp do so much to make this program fantastic! \nCamp at Clapping Hands Farm takes place outdoors for the most part. They generally run camp in all weather conditions unless there are hazardous driving conditions or it is cold AND wet. In other words\, if it’s raining and 70 degrees\, they will have camp. If it’s 30 degrees and not raining\, we will have camp. But if it’s 40 degrees and raining\, they will skip camp and use their weather make-up day (Thu\, Apr 23). DESCRIPTION:Exploring Painting in Oil and Acrylics is designed to encourage students to explore new approaches to their current painting methods. The objective is to abandon judgment\, have fun\, and embrace discovery. The instructor will cover design/composition\, color mixing\, and mark-making while encouraging the simplification of detail to blur the boundaries between representation and abstraction and to see shapes without labels. Supplies are included. These one-session classes are instructed by Ann Lawtey and take place on the following dates: \n\nThu\, Feb 12\, 10am-1pm Session One.\nThu\, Feb 19\, 10am-1pm Session Two.\nThu\, Feb 26\, 10am-1pm Session Three.\nWed\, Mar 18\, 10am-1pm Session Four.\nWed\, Mar 25\, 10am-1pm Session Five.\nThu\, Apr 16\, 10am-1pm Session Six.\nThu\, Apr 23\, 10am-1pm Session Seven.\nThu\, Apr 30\, 10am-1pm Session Eight.\n\nRegistration opens Mon\, Jan 5\, and closes Mon\, Jan 26. This event is held indoors at the new Chatham County Parks\, Recreation\, and Cultural Resources (CCPRCR) Arts Center\, located at 964 East Street\, Suite 105\, Pittsboro\, NC 23712\, on the backside of the building. To access the studio\, drive straight through the open gate and look for the sign that reads “Arts Center.” Visual Arts participants may park in the back lot. DESCRIPTION:Join the Chatham Social Club for their Big Band Dance Series: Foxtrot and Swing\, hosted every Thursday\, Mar 5-Apr 30\, 7pm-8pm. The Big Band Dance Series is perfect for new dancers wanting to learn how to social dance. This series is also great for students who have experience in Swing and Foxtrot and would like to raise their dance standard to have more fun on the dance floor! No previous dance experience required to join the class. \nTuition is is $288 and includes 8 weeks of group instruction on the Big Band dances Foxtrot and Swing for two people. This event takes place indoors and is led by instructor Lindsey Kling. Through the story of Richard Etheridge and the all-black crew of the US Life-Saving Service\, the crew faced discrimination and the dangers of the Atlantic\, yet rose to heroism in their service.
