SUMMARY:Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp at Clapping Hands Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join Clapping Hands Farm for their Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp\, hosted every Thursday\, Mar 5-Apr 16\, 9am-3:30pm. Clapping Hands is an arts and nature camp and retreat with a special love for community. Our homeschool camp workshops include visual arts\, crafts\, music\, theater\, and dance\, as well as engineering\, building\, nature exploration\, game creation\, and more! \nGENERAL SCHEDULE \n\nCamp opens with games\, Morning Circle\, and morning workshops in focus groups. Each session will have at least two Morning Workshop Focus Groups; campers choose one Focus Group to join for the entire 6-week session.\nLunch.\nAnything Goes and all-camp activities in the afternoon. Activities are different each day\, are based on campers’ requests\, and include opportunities to explore both focus groups. In other words\, if you are interested in both Focus Groups\, you can sign up for one of them for the morning and still be able to “taste” the others during Anything Goes.\nBuddy Group check-in and a Closing Circle before departure.\n\nSee this page for this program’s Focus Groups. \nDETAILS AND LOGISTICS \nCamp is $400 per child\, with full and partial scholarships available. Homeschool Camp serves children and teens ages 8-16. They accept older campers who are interested in their Focus Group topics. They also accept younger campers on a case-by-case basis. Parents\, adults\, and older teens are also needed as Counselors or Volunteers. Parent volunteers at Homeschool camp do so much to make this program fantastic! \nCamp at Clapping Hands Farm takes place outdoors for the most part. They generally run camp in all weather conditions unless there are hazardous driving conditions or it is cold AND wet. In other words\, if it’s raining and 70 degrees\, they will have camp. If it’s 30 degrees and not raining\, we will have camp. But if it’s 40 degrees and raining\, they will skip camp and use their weather make-up day (Thu\, Apr 23). During the winter session\, they will have a heated studio available that can accommodate one group. Please note that no class will take place on Thu\, Apr 2. \nSee more events at Clapping Hands Farm.

SUMMARY:Fabric Coiled Baskets
DESCRIPTION:At this Fabric Coiled Baskets workshop on Sat\, Mar 14\, 1pm-4pm\, you’ll learn how to make a cute bowl from fabric wrapped around cotton cording and sewn together. You can make potholders and trivets\, too\, or even a BIG basket; the method is the same! \nParticipants are required to have basic sewing-machine operating skills. The Arts Center has sewing machines available for class use\, but participants are always welcome to bring their own. Supplies are included. This one-class session is instructed by Bea Lee. Registration opens Mon\, Feb 2\, and closes Mon\, Mar 9. This event is held indoors at the new Chatham County Parks\, Recreation\, and Cultural Resources (CCPRCR) Arts Center\, located at 964 East Street\, Suite 105\, Pittsboro\, NC 23712\, on the backside of the building. To access the studio\, drive straight through the open gate and look for the sign that reads “Arts Center.” Visual Arts participants may park in the back lot. \nThe fee to participate is $45 per person\, and registration is required. Learn how to craft and perform 5-minute true personal stories in this workshop\, like the Moth or the Monti. This 8-hour workshop across 2 Saturdays is for anyone 18+ who loves telling stories\, wants to be more comfortable speaking in front of an audience\, or wants to dip their toes into the storytelling world. All levels are welcome\, especially beginners. This class is in collaboration with Story Connection. Click here to get your tickets! \nWorkshop participants will have a chance to be invited to perform in a Mill Town Yarns Story Jam in front of a live audience. For the $80 enrollment fee\, that means you’re only paying $10 an hour!  What a deal to learn from one of the best and share an experience with other eager students! \nINSTRUCTOR BIO \nHope Wilder shares riveting personal narratives and teaches the craft of true storytelling\, drawing on personal experience\, to teens and adults in Durham\, NC. She teaches classes and hosts open mics in collaboration with Story Connection. Coming from a strong educational background\, she has over 17 years of teaching experience. As a storyteller\, she has been featured on a podcast\, won a Monti story slam\, and participated in the 2025 Monti Grand Slam.
