SUMMARY:Bynum Front Porch Music
DESCRIPTION:The Bynum Front Porch Music Series takes place every Friday\, May-Aug\, 7pm-8:30pm at the Historic Bynum General Store\, featuring a variety of bands spanning multiple musical genres\, including gospel\, folk\, blues\, rockabilly\, and bluegrass. You can park at the Bynum ball field or in the field adjacent to the store. Doors open at 6:30pm\, and food trucks are on-site. Directions. There is an outdoor stage (and an indoor one if it rains). No pets or alcohol. This event is open to the public and admission is free – no tickets required. A hat is passed around to collect contributions. DESCRIPTION:As part of Chatham County’s year-long celebration of America’s 250th birthday\, the Chatham County Historical Association (CCHA) is hosting an NC History Book Club: Between the Lines\, held on the third Saturday of every month in 2026\, from 9:30am-10:30am. This monthly book club will explore North Carolina’s rich history through engaging nonfiction. Whether you’re a lifelong history lover or are simply curious about the people and events that shaped our state\, join CCHA for conversation and lively discussion. \nRegister here for the June 2026 session\, where you will discuss Fire on the Beach: Recovering the Lost Story of Richard Etheridge and the Pea Island Lifesavers by David Wright and David Zoby. Fire on the Beach explores the dangers of 19th-century coastal transportation along North Carolina’s “Graveyard of the Atlantic\,” where ships carrying goods and people faced constant danger. Through the story of Richard Etheridge and the all-black crew of the US Life-Saving Service\, the crew faced discrimination and the dangers of the Atlantic\, yet rose to heroism in their service. Participation is free\, and you are welcome to bring friends. This month’s event takes place Sat\, Jun 20\, 9:30am-10:30am at the Chatham County Courthouse and Historical Museum. \nAll are welcome\, and admission is free. You might also see some local produce pop up from Little Pond Gardens and other tenants! \nThe vendor fee is $15 – you can apply here. Free and convenient parking. Free entry. Fully accessible. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. Stick around afterward for live music from Liquid Pleasure!  \nThis event is FREE and open to the public\, but registration is required.  \nAnticipate bag checks and security screenings upon entry. Food and beverages will be available on-site for purchase – be prepared to present your receipt to event security. Pets are welcome. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Upon arrival\, present your Accessible Parking Placard to the event security personnel stationed at the entrance of the accessible parking lot and drop-off location for entry. MOSAIC also has multiple accessible parking spaces\, centrally located in front of building entrances throughout the campus.  \nAt this time\, MOSAIC at Chatham Park does not offer sensory kits or quiet spaces for Autistic and Neurodivergent individuals.
