DESCRIPTION:Community Organizing for Racial Equity (CORE) welcomes you to participate in their Annual Juneteenth Black Arts Festival on Sat\, Jun 20\, 2026\, 2pm-6pm at the Chatham County Fairgrounds. Since 2018\, the Juneteenth event has undergone significant transformation\, growing from its initial location\, which accommodated 100 people\, to one that now draws over 3\,000 attendees from across the Triangle region. \nJuneteenth Black Arts Festival is a dedicated space of reverence for the impact of Black arts and culture on American culture. They commit to offering an opportunity for Black artists and entrepreneurs to build relationships and increase their exposure across communities. They honor the creative genius and spirit of excellence that prevails within the Black community because they recognize barriers that remain in place today\, excluding them from mainstream business opportunities. \nAll are welcome to this free community event. They have quite a festival planned for this year’s celebration\, which will highlight Black artists\, both local and from afar; educational opportunities about Juneteenth\, the history of the celebration\, and the resilience of Black culture through Black arts; and a vision for liberation. Attendees can also enjoy live entertainment\, art\, a Black business expo\, food trucks\, a heritage walk\, and kids’ activities\, all while challenging stereotypes and building pride in the dynamic heritage of Black Americans and American culture. DESCRIPTION:Join The Plant for Live Music with Popcorn Blue Band on Sun\, Jun 21\, 3pm-6pm. Popcorn Blue Band was founded in 2004 by Linda and Dan Chegash\, the band’s manager and drummer\, respectively\, and Phillip Sloane\, the keyboardist. Since then\, the band has grown to an eight-member band including Tom Wills\, Marc Alperin\, Kathleen Millikan\, and Richard and Katie Kim.  They perform covers and originals in and around Chapel Hill\, Pittsboro\, and Durham\, NC.  The band features five lead vocalists singing some of your favorite pop\, jazz\, blues\, and country tunes\, so the sound stays harmonious and fresh. \nThere is no cover for music\, but tips for the musicians are encouraged. Most events are rain or shine; if they have to cancel\, they will do so as far in advance as possible. Free parking is available onsite. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. DESCRIPTION:Join the Orchid Gallery for Individual Classes\, hosted every second and fourth Tuesday of the month\, 3pm-4:30pm. You will tour their greenhouses while asking questions about orchid culture. With over 35 years of experience in growing orchids\, they promise you will learn how to become a better grower. You will be surrounded by thousands of orchids\, allowing them to show examples of the best way to care for them. \nThe tour and class take about an hour and a half. Classes are $60 per person. Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics.
