SUMMARY:Juneteenth Black Arts Festival
DESCRIPTION:Community Organizing for Racial Equity (CORE) welcomes you to participate in their Annual Juneteenth Black Arts Festival on Sat\, Jun 20\, 2026\, 2pm-6pm at the Chatham County Fairgrounds. Since 2018\, the Juneteenth event has undergone significant transformation\, growing from its initial location\, which accommodated 100 people\, to one that now draws over 3\,000 attendees from across the Triangle region. \nJuneteenth Black Arts Festival is a dedicated space of reverence for the impact of Black arts and culture on American culture. They commit to offering an opportunity for Black artists and entrepreneurs to build relationships and increase their exposure across communities. They honor the creative genius and spirit of excellence that prevails within the Black community because they recognize barriers that remain in place today\, excluding them from mainstream business opportunities. \nAll are welcome to this free community event. They have quite a festival planned for this year’s celebration\, which will highlight Black artists\, both local and from afar; educational opportunities about Juneteenth\, the history of the celebration\, and the resilience of Black culture through Black arts; and a vision for liberation. Attendees can also enjoy live entertainment\, art\, a Black business expo\, food trucks\, a heritage walk\, and kids’ activities\, all while challenging stereotypes and building pride in the dynamic heritage of Black Americans and American culture. This year’s event will also include a Spades Tournament. See key links\, including vendor information\, below: \n\nNonprofit and Non-Black Vendors.\nBlack Business Vendors.\nSpades Tournament Registration.\nVolunteers.\n\nSee more events with CORE.

SUMMARY:Forest Tinkering Camp
DESCRIPTION:Forest Tinkering Camp at Sun Star Farm is a small group of 12 campers led by 2 counselors. Forest Tinkering Camp is very different from Tinkering School’s format.  Campers spend most of the day in the forest based in the camp’s new shelter\, learning and developing a variety of outdoor skills: flint-knapping to make arrowheads\, chopping wood for daily campfires used for cooking\, gathering native plants\, making fishing nets\, building a water filtration system\, whittling sticks into tools\, improving in archery\, and telling stories of yesteryear. As for projects\, they will be mostly individual.  Campers will need a certain level of maturity and be able to follow instructions to work and play safely in this environment. \nThey save 4 spots for girls during the registration period\, so they end up with a nice ratio of boys to girls.  If any of the “girl” spots are not taken by March 1st\, they open them to boys on the waitlist. There is a 6:1 counselor-to-camper ratio. This camp is for children ages 9-12. \nCamp is $499/week. Early care starts at 8am and is $35/week. Aftercare runs from 3pm-5:30pm and is $125/week. A monthly payment plan is available at checkout. Pay only a $75 non-refundable deposit now to secure your spot. Transfer\, Cancellation\, and Refund Policy is here. Multi-week and sibling discounts are automatically applied to your order at checkout. (5% discount for the 2nd+ child or 2nd+ week).  \nSCHEDULE \n\nMon\, Jun 15-Fri\, Jun 19\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jun 22-Fri\, Jun 26\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jun 29-Fri\, Jul 3\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jul 6-Fri\, Jul 10\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jul 13-Fri\, Jul 17\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jul 20-Fri\, Jul 24\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jul 27-Fri\, Jul 31\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Aug 3-Fri\, Aug 7\, 8:30am-3pm. \n\nSee more events at Sun Star Farm. SUMMARY:Tinkering School NC
DESCRIPTION:Tinkering School NC at Sun Star Farm is a small group of 12 campers led by 2 counselors and a 3rd counselor during peak building times. Once they cover skills and safety\, campers collaborate to create an awesome large-scale project based on a theme chosen late Monday/Tuesday morning\, depending on skill level\, interest\, and weather conditions. They use impact drivers\, cordless drills\, levels\, measuring tapes\, and other basic carpentry hand tools.  Each camper is given safety glasses and ear muff hearing protection. Every day\, they mix in group games\, visit farm animals\, explore the farm\, play water games\, and go down the water slide to keep cool. \nThey save 4 spots for girls during the registration period\, so they end up with a nice ratio of boys to girls.  If any of the “girl” spots are not taken by March 1st\, they open them to boys on the waitlist.
