This introductory class is ideal for anyone interested in exploring sustainable creativity and natural materials. You’ll learn to beat fibers\, make pulp baths\, and use a mould and deckle—all skills you can take home and replicate with simple\, household tools. By the end of the workshop\, you’ll leave with your own unique handmade papers—rooted in nature and made by your own hands. \nClasses are held on the following dates: \n\nSat\, Sep 13\, 1pm-3pm.\nSun\, Sep 21\, 1pm-3pm.\n\nIMPORTANT NOTES \n\nPapermaking is a wet process. Her recent projects include a month-long artist residency on Moloka‘i\, where she studied seaweed and algae that washed ashore. DESCRIPTION:In this Tapestry Class by Trudy Thomson\, you’ll explore many different techniques for tapestry on a hand-crafted loom\, which you can take home for future work. You’ll learn how to use weft to create pattern designs\, including ways to embellish your pieces using sumac\, Egyptian knotting\, and other techniques. Classes are held every Saturday\, Jul 5-Jul 26\, 2pm-4pm. \nThe fee to participate is $150 per person plus a $25 materials fee for the handcrafted loom and yarn. The classroom is located in the back of the Pittsboro Gallery of Arts in downtown Pittsboro.
