This monthly book club will explore North Carolina’s rich history through engaging nonfiction. Whether you’re a lifelong history lover or are simply curious about the people and events that shaped our state\, join CCHA for conversation and lively discussion. \nThe April selection is ‘Naked Genius’\, by George Moses Horton\, a book of poetry first published in 1865. George Moses Horton was the first African American author to be published in the United States. Born a slave on a North Carolina tobacco plantation\, he was named the Poet Laureate of Chatham County\, where he spent most of his life. This month’s event takes place Sat\, Apr 18\, 9:30am-10:30am at the Chatham County Courthouse and Historical Museum. \nAll are welcome\, and admission is free.
