Salisbury Street). Participants will walk together through downtown\, accompanied by live Peruvian music to George Moses Horton Middle School (79 Horton Street\, Pittsboro). Free Race Amity Day T-Shirts will be available for the first 100 walkers. \nNot up for the walk? No worries! Join them for the day’s festivities at George Moses Horton Middle School at 10am\, for fellowship\, family\, activities\, music\, food trucks\, and free ice cream compliments of Circle City Ice Cream. This is an opportunity to share a meal and build connections. The day continues from 1pm-3:30pm with a Race Amity Day proclamation\, a special message of encouragement recognizing the importance of this work\, remarks from invited civic leaders\, and music and dramatic performances that reflect the spirit of unity and shared humanity. As part of the program\, community organizations will host informational tables\, offering opportunities for engagement and continued dialogue. DESCRIPTION:Community Organizing for Racial Equity (CORE) welcomes you to participate in their Annual Juneteenth Black Arts Festival on Sat\, Jun 20\, 2026\, 2pm-6pm at the Chatham County Fairgrounds. Since 2018\, the Juneteenth event has undergone significant transformation\, growing from its initial location\, which accommodated 100 people\, to one that now draws over 3\,000 attendees from across the Triangle region. \nJuneteenth Black Arts Festival is a dedicated space of reverence for the impact of Black arts and culture on American culture. They commit to offering an opportunity for Black artists and entrepreneurs to build relationships and increase their exposure across communities. They honor the creative genius and spirit of excellence that prevails within the Black community because they recognize barriers that remain in place today\, excluding them from mainstream business opportunities. \nAll are welcome to this free community event. They have quite a festival planned for this year’s celebration\, which will highlight Black artists\, both local and from afar; educational opportunities about Juneteenth\, the history of the celebration\, and the resilience of Black culture through Black arts; and a vision for liberation. The 2026 champion gains an exemption into the 2027 U.S. Women’s Open and an invitation to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur\, meaning this year’s winner could be competing on the LPGA Tour within a few seasons. \nOld Chatham has a Durham mailing address but sits in Chatham County on the northeast shore of Jordan Lake. The field of 156 plays two days of stroke play (July 13–14) before the cut to 64 for match play\, building to a 36-hole final on Saturday\, July 18. Old Chatham is a Rees Jones design that opened in 2001 and is set on 400 acres of protected pine woodlands. DESCRIPTION:Visit the past and marvel at how things were done at the 51st Annual Old-Fashioned Farmers’ Days on Sat\, Sep 5-Sun\, Sep 6\, 9am-6pm at Silk Hope Farm Heritage Park\, the longest-running event in Chatham County.  Every Labor Day weekend\, the fields at Silk Hope Farm Heritage Park come alive with the chug of steam engines and the smell of barbecue. Hosted by the Silk Hope Ruritan Club since 1975\, this two-day celebration of the area’s agricultural roots has grown from a small gathering into a beloved tradition that draws thousands of visitors from across the region. \nAcross the grounds\, you’ll find a sprawling display of antique tractors and farm equipment\, plus living demonstrations of how rural work once got done: a working sawmill powered by steam\, a cotton gin\, tobacco equipment\, and the hiss and smoke of restored steam engines running just as they did a century ago. One of those engines powers the event’s most famous treat—”steam cream\,” handmade ice cream churned on-site that’s worth the trip on its own. \nThe show barn anchors the entertainment\, with clogging performances\, live music\, and a junior dairy show\, while antique tractor pulls\, craft demonstrations\, draft horses\, and farm animals fill out the day. Families will find plenty to keep younger visitors busy\, from a kids’ discovery area to pony rides and a mini-train. And the food is unapologetically Southern: barbecue\, pinto beans\, and more. \nAdmission is $5 per person and free for children ages 6 and under – great for families! SUMMARY:Hoppin’ John Fiddlers’ Convention
DESCRIPTION:Looking forward to beautiful early fall days at the Annual Hoppin’ John Fiddlers’ Convention on Thu\, Sep 17-Sat\, Sep 19 at the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center! This beloved regional event brings together families and music lovers for a unique old-time fiddlers’ convention. Performers compete in contests spanning a wide range of categories\, all culminating in the Old-Time\, Bluegrass\, and Non-Traditional Band Contests on Saturday evening. \nThe weekend also includes a Friday night concert\, showcases from a variety of performers\, music and dance workshops\, film screenings\, and plenty of great food and drink\, including local beer from bmc brewing. The Hoppin’ John Cook-Off is a festival highlight\, with a chance to taste some creative\, homemade dishes (registration opens Wed\, Jul 1\, 2026). This is a family-friendly event\, with plenty of crafts\, activities\, workshops\, and contests for kids of all ages.  \nThis event takes place outdoors. Vehicle and tent camping are available in designated areas. Rates for weekend and single-day admission\, as well as camping\, are available here. See more events at Shakori.  \nACCESSIBILITY \nAlthough situated on a rolling half-farm and in a wooded setting\, Shakori Hills is fairly navigable for those with disabilities. Please find some helpful information below and contact info@hoppinjohn.org with any further questions. A gravel road connects all of the musical stages. As it is a rolling hill property\, there are slight declines and inclines\, but nothing too steep. This main thoroughfare provides good (though slightly rugged) access to all the music and is very close to their food area\, as well as all the accessible camping and parking areas. \nMobility-impaired parking is available on a first-come\, first-served basis and is divided into Van-Accessible spaces and regular-width spaces. Please see the parking volunteers for directions and access. A valid state-issued DMV ADA placard or HD plate is required. They have two Mobility-Impaired Camping areas close to the accessible bathrooms. If interested in utilizing one of these sites\, please contact info@hoppinjohn.org before attending a festival to coordinate. \nPETS \nBringing your dog to Hoppin’ John is highly discouraged. However\, your furry friends are allowed if they are contained on a leash at all times. You must pay the dog admission price ($10) for each dog. They reserve the right to ask you and your dog to leave if he or she is behaving badly or they are not leashed/contained. You must clean up after your dog. Dogs over 20 pounds may not venture from your campsite.

GreenWood Wrights’ Fest is a semi-annual gathering of spoon carvers\, bowl turners\, chair makers\, basket weavers\, and toolsmiths united by a passion for crafting with traditional methods. The main festival features formal classes taught by renowned instructors\, while additional gatherings foster casual collaboration and community building. \nLearn new skills and techniques to enhance your greenwood craftsmanship at The Plant. Bring your hammock and best camping recipe\, and prepare to make some memories! The festival offers both beginner and advanced workshops on carving spoons\, as well as numerous other areas of green woodworking. Shorter classes for kids ages 10-14 will be offered on basic knife skills. The festival also features demonstrations that explore the history and culture of green woodworking\, tree identification\, splint harvesting\, tool sharpening\, and lathe turning. \nBasic facilities are provided\, but please note that this is a camping environment. DESCRIPTION:Spirits of Pittsboro’s Past returns to downtown Pittsboro on Oct. 23-25\, offering a historical walking tour that combines local folklore\, reenactments and stories from the town’s past. Led by guides and costumed interpreters\, participants will travel a one-mile route through historic sites\, cemeteries\, churches and other landmarks while encountering “spirits” who share tales from Pittsboro’s history. \n\nTours begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. from the Historic Chatham Courthouse and last approximately 90 to 120 minutes. Open to ages 12 and older\, the experience is held rain or shine and is designed to offer a new perspective on the people and events that shaped the community. Attendance is limited to 60 participants per evening\, with guests divided into small groups. Please note that pets and strollers are not permitted on the tour. \nTickets are $25 for Chatham County Historical Association members and $30 for nonmembers. Registration is available online only\, and advance purchase is required. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight and wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes. Proceeds support the Chatham County Historical Association and its efforts to preserve and share local history.

DESCRIPTION:Spirits of Pittsboro’s Past returns to downtown Pittsboro on Oct. 23-25\, offering a historical walking tour that combines local folklore\, reenactments and stories from the town’s past. Led by guides and costumed interpreters\, participants will travel a one-mile route through historic sites\, cemeteries\, churches and other landmarks while encountering “spirits” who share tales from Pittsboro’s history. \n\nTours begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. from the Historic Chatham Courthouse and last approximately 90 to 120 minutes. Open to ages 12 and older\, the experience is held rain or shine and is designed to offer a new perspective on the people and events that shaped the community. Attendance is limited to 60 participants per evening\, with guests divided into small groups. Please note that pets and strollers are not permitted on the tour. \nTickets are $25 for Chatham County Historical Association members and $30 for nonmembers. Registration is available online only\, and advance purchase is required. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight and wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes. Proceeds support the Chatham County Historical Association and its efforts to preserve and share local history.

Experience nostalgic Drive-In Movie Nights at MOSAIC at Chatham Park —where you can relax with your favorite crew\, enjoy classic flicks\, sip soda\, and munch popcorn from the confines of your car. Grab your lawn chairs and blankets for an evening of cinema under the stars! This extra special movie series will feature a screening of Hocus Pocus 2 and Trunk-or-Treating.  \nThe lot opens at 6pm for Trunk-or-Treating\, and the movie begins at 7pm. This event is FREE and open to the public\, but registration is required.  \nAnticipate bag checks and security screenings upon entry. Food or beverages purchased outside MOSAIC\, weapons\, and illegal substances are prohibited. Food and beverages will be available on-site for purchase – be prepared to present your receipt to event security. Pets are welcome. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Please clean up after your pet and dispose of pet waste in the appropriate bins (on-site pet waste stations are located throughout the property). Enjoy the Drive-In Movie!\n\nACCESSIBILITY \nWheelchair-accessible event restrooms are available at the Philip H. Kohl MOSAIC Family Commons\, located at 457 Freedom Parkway\, Pittsboro\, NC 27312\, behind the Tommy Edwards Stage. Both wheelchair-accessible portapotties and indoor restrooms are open to the public. MOSAIC at Chatham Park’s common spaces around campus are wheelchair accessible for public use.  \nAccessible parking spaces and a drop-off location are available at 120 Mosaic Blvd\, Pittsboro\, NC 27312\, located in the 79°West and Hops & Berry Taproom parking lot. Upon arrival\, present your Accessible Parking Placard to the event security personnel stationed at the entrance of the accessible parking lot and drop-off location for entry. MOSAIC also has multiple accessible parking spaces\, centrally located in front of building entrances throughout the campus.  \nAt this time\, MOSAIC at Chatham Park does not offer sensory kits or quiet spaces for Autistic and Neurodivergent individuals. However\, they do offer a children’s play zone located beside the Philip H. Kohl MOSAIC Family Commons.

DESCRIPTION:The Pittsboro Street Fair will return to downtown Pittsboro on Saturday\, Oct. 31\, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.\, rain or shine. The annual event features more than 100 vendors\, food trucks\, live music and activities for all ages along Hanks\, Fayetteville and Salisbury streets. Attendees can also watch the annual Trike Race from noon to 3 p.m. Admission is free\, and shuttle service will be available from Central Carolina Community College. Proceeds support Rotary Club of Pittsboro community programs\, including scholarships\, CORA’s Turkey Tuesday\, Meals on Wheels and Books for Every Reader.
