Following the race\, enjoy the day in Chatham County\, exploring our attractions\, restaurants\, and breweries. \nEVENT DETAILS \nBeginning at the ALL NEW Chatham YMCA (120 Parkland Drive\, Pittsboro)\, you’ll race through Chatham Park. Runners will follow greenways\, sidewalks\, and shoulders. The 5K and 10K will share the course with 5K runners\, turning around slightly earlier. Walkers are welcome. Pets are not allowed on the race course. Baby strollers/joggers are permitted\, but for the safety of all participants\, please start at the back behind the runners and walkers. \nRace day parking will be available at the Chatham YMCA. Event organizers request that participants carpool if possible. Overflow parking is available in Pittsboro’s public lots – please do not park in shopping center lots. Race fees include your Hipster Leprechaun T-shirt and support for a great cause. SUMMARY:2026 Annual Spring Cleanup at Jordan Lake
DESCRIPTION:Join Clean Up Jordan Lake for their 2026 Annual Spring Cleanup on Sat\, Mar 14\, 8:30am-12pm. Clean Jordan Lake is joining a group of local organizations hosting cleanup events as part of Creek Week activities\, including the Chatham County\, Orange County\, and Keep Durham Beautiful. Assignments include: \n\nWalkers: You will be divided into groups at registration.\nBoaters: Boaters are needed to ferry some volunteers to their cleanup track and back\, and also to help haul trash back to the dumpster at the Corps Bulkhead. Boaters who wish to ferry volunteers only are welcome. They will loan 2-way radios to boaters for communication.\nKayakers: Come to the registration table at 8:45am to receive assignments from CJL leaders.\n\nThis year\, they continue their tradition of offering a Trash Treasure Hunt. Items marked by “CJL TTH” are shown to the track captain\, who will issue a CJL business card redeemable for a merchandise prize at the registration table. Coffee and pastries will be available during registration. \nAll volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and work gloves (provided or bring your own). They strongly recommend long pants\, a long-sleeve shirt\, and a hat. Shoreline Track Captains will be present to guide volunteers. Volunteers will be provided with bags\, trash grabbers\, first-aid kits\, water\, and gloves\, if needed. Pontoon boat and operator courtesy of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers \nAll participants must complete a liability waiver form online before the event. Waiver forms for Adults and Minors (age 11-18) must be submitted online by going to: \n\nAdults- https://www.cleanjordanlake.org/volunteer-waiver.\nMinors- https://www.cleanjordanlake.org/minor-waiver.\n\nDue to potential hazards\, they cannot allow children under 11 to participate. Children over the age of 11 and under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nDIRECTIONS \nGo to Jordan Lake State Recreation Area\, New Hope Access. Go straight past the ticket booth onto a dirt road. Follow the signs to parking. Space is limited on the narrow road\, so please carpool or arrange a drop-off if possible. SUMMARY:Tobacco Road Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The Tobacco Road Marathon and Half-Marathon feature over 20 miles of the American Tobacco Trail (including 4 miles of Chatham County\, NC). Up to twenty percent of their runners qualify for the Legendary Boston Marathon. Less experienced runners benefit\, too\, as the fast and flat energy-absorbing course and ideal spring temperatures make it an excellent venue for your next personal record!  \nThe 16th Annual Tobacco Road Marathon and Half Marathon is Sun\, Mar 14\, 2027. As in prior years\, both races will begin at 7am on Brooks Park Lane and head towards the entrance of Thomas Brooks Park. The first and last 2.5 miles of both races are on paved roadways. The ATT surface is compacted screenings\, with some sections combining this with asphalt. \nWhether you are participating or cheering for a friend or family member\, there is plenty to do in our area – local eateries\, places to stay\, craft beverage tastings and tours\, wineries\, nature activities\, golf\, shopping\, and more. Take advantage of all that Chatham County has to offer!  \nThe Tobacco Road Marathon is organized by a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing partner charities with financial assistance by channeling passionate runners everywhere\, particularly those in the North Carolina Triangle area\, into a powerful force for good. Over the years\, the event has raised over $1.7 million for charities\, including the American Red Cross\, JDRF\, Hope for the Warriors\, and Triangle Rails to Trails Conservancy (ATT is a Rails to Trails project).  \nThe inaugural event was held Mar 21\, 2010\, with over 3\,400 registered runners representing 39 states. Approximately 4\,000 runners and thousands of spectators will attend this year’s event. In 2014\, Runner’s World Magazine named the Tobacco Road Marathon one of the top ten best new marathons.

SUMMARY:Spring Ag Fest
DESCRIPTION:The Annual Chatham County Spring Ag Fest celebrates our area’s agriculture\, forestry\, and natural resources. This free community event occurs Sat\, Mar 28\, 10am-3pm at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center. It offers something for everyone: livestock arena events\, pony rides\, demonstrations\, food trucks\, Ready Set Grow Magic Show\, and more. Indoor and outdoor exhibitors and vendors will highlight local farms\, farmers’ markets\, sustainable agriculture\, agricultural support and advocacy\, agribusiness\, beekeeping\, livestock\, forestry\, green industry\, wildlife\, conservation\, and more. \nAdditional parking with free shuttle service provided by Chatham Transit will be available at the following locations in downtown Pittsboro: \n\nCentral Carolina Community College Main Building\, 764 West Street.\nChatham County Justice Center\, 40 E.
