Not only does he read ‘em all\, but he also shares his enthusiasm for the genre with everyone. \nFirst held in early 2020\, the inaugural CrimeScene Bookfest was a weekend filled with some of Fearrington’s favorite mystery authors\, who read\, held panel discussions\, and rubbed elbows at a cocktail party. This year’s killer cocktail party will be to die for! DESCRIPTION:Join House of Hops for their Annual Chili Cook Off on Sat\, Feb 28\, 1pm-5pm. Any type of chili is eligible and will be judged on the following criteria: \n\nAroma: Does it smell appetizing?\nAppearance: Is the color rich and appealing? Does it look appetizing and reflect its ingredients?\nConsistency: Is it a smooth\, balanced blend of ingredients? Avoid watery\, greasy\, grainy\, or overly thick/lumpy textures.\n Taste: Is there a good blend of flavor? No single ingredient should dominate.\nAftertaste: Should not leave behind a bitter/metallic taste\, and the heat should fade nicely.\n\nEach category will be ranked on a scale of 1-5\, with 1 being the worst and 5 the best. 2-3 judges will be present to blind-taste each contestant’s chili and score it according to the above criteria. There is no cooking on site. Everything must be prepared in advance and kept warm throughout the event. If you wish to bring toppings/sides\, you may do so\, but you will be judged on the chili alone. There is a $15 buy-in to compete as a contestant. This includes a T-shirt\, 2 draft beers on the day of\, and a chili cookbook featuring all the contestants’ chili recipes after the competition. DESCRIPTION:CORA’s Empty Bowls 2026 is its signature annual fundraising event\, held this year on Sat\, Feb 28\, 5pm-7pm. At Empty Bowls\, guests enjoy a delicious dinner featuring soup tastings from many local restaurants\, spend a fun evening in fellowship with other supporters\, and go home with a beautiful piece of handmade local pottery as a reminder of the empty bowls they help fill for neighbors in need. \nDuring the Fund-a-Need portion of Empty Bowls\, guests have the opportunity to make a direct and meaningful impact by contributing to CORA’s efforts to fight food insecurity. Every dollar raised will help expand programs\, provide nutritious food to more families\, and ensure that no neighbor goes hungry. \nThe menu will include soups served by chefs from local restaurants\, as well as appetizers\, freshly baked bread\, and homemade desserts. There will also be live music from Popcorn Blue Bans\, a 50/50 raffle\, and updates from CORA. \nThree ticket tiers are available for purchase: \n\nPremim – $100: Includes a premium piece of handmade pottery and a dinner featuring soups from local restaurants!\nStandard – $65: Includes a piece of handmade pottery and a dinner featuring soups from local restaurants!\nSoup Only – $35: Includes a dinner featuring soups from local restaurants (no pottery).\n\nPurchase your ticket while supplies last.
