SUMMARY:Goldston Old Fashion Day
DESCRIPTION:The 38th Annual Goldston Old Fashion Day is Sat\, Oct 11\, 9am-4pm. The one-day street festival\, sponsored by the Goldston Lions Club\, features local arts\, crafts\, pottery\, jewelry\, live music\, food vendors\, and a petting zoo. There will also be a display of classic cars and tractors. The food court is located in the same area\, featuring a covered seating area.  \nMain Street will be closed to traffic from United Fire & Safety to the old BB&T Bank. The old bank parking lot will have classic cars and trucks. C-Cape will also be on hand\, displaying their antique power equipment (tractors\, engines\, and more). Limited seating is available – bringing a lawn chair is recommended. \nBe sure to stop by the Chatham County Historical Association (CCHA) tent to share your stories and memories of the Goldston area. Goldston is over 100 years old and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. CCHA needs your stories of Goldston’s past to bring their collection to life. \nPart of the countdown to Chatham Celebrates America 250. DESCRIPTION:Join the Chatham County Historical Association for Everything You Should Have Learned in High School About the Declaration of Independence on Sun\, Sep 7\, 2pm-3:30pm at the Chatham County Historic Courthouse and Museum. Led by Courtney Smith\, this talk will teach you everything you should have learned about the Declaration of Independence\, but probably didn’t. What you don’t know may surprise you! Engaging and enlightening\, this program examines the theories and context behind this historic document and translates it into “plain language” that anyone can understand. \nAll are welcome to attend this free event. This event takes place indoors. The historic courthouse meets federal ADA requirements. No pets allowed. Please leave your furry friends at home. Free parking is available behind \nABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR \nCourtney Smith is an Exhibits and Programs Coordinator for the Orange County Historical Museum. She has a Master’s Degree in Teaching History from UVA and has lectured widely on this foundational document.
