PFAR vegan potlucks are great opportunities for vegans and vegan-curious individuals to meet like-minded people\, engage in meaningful conversations\, and share delicious food. Board games are available on-site\, but please feel free to bring any games from home to share. \nLike always\, this event is free! Here are a couple of important notes: \n\nPlease bring your own plates\, forks\, bowls\, and other eating utensils from home to help make the event environmentally friendly and reduce the use of disposables.\nPlease also bring a note card listing the ingredients in your dish(es) to help those with specific food allergies.\n\nThe event also includes a meet-and-greet with their cow residents. Two experienced Tour Guides will introduce you to the Refuge herd of eight curious\, social cows\, including a three-generational family. \nThis family-friendly event is a great opportunity to celebrate warmer weather\, longer days\, and compassionate living. RSVP and let them know what you’re thinking of bringing using this link!  \nThere is an ADA-certified porta-potty on site\, and a portable handwashing station has also been installed. Please note: Animal residents will not be available during this event\, except for the cows\, which may approach the Pavilion fence line. This clinic is for anyone who wants to learn how to push cows in the pasture and do cow work in the arena. Please note that this is not a roping clinic. The fee is $275\, and the clinic is limited to ten participants.  \nClinics start promptly at 9am. The property opens at 8am\, so please arrive early to settle in and have your horse cared for. They usually start with a meet-and-greet on the barn deck\, then proceed to tack and ride\, depending on the clinic. All clinics include a hearty lunch with drinks and dessert. They have limited facilities to board your horse overnight if you are planning on attending a multiple-day clinic. They also have trailer hookups if you plan to spend the night. \nAll clinics are for every discipline\, every kind of horse\, and any skill level rider! Clinics will be held at the Bar T Horsemanship facility in northern Chatham County\, off Hwy 87 (730 Pete Thomas Road\, Pittsboro\, NC). Understanding these rhythms is the secret to moving beyond a “pretty” garden to a truly functional\, life-sustaining one. \nWhether you are starting with a blank slate or looking to enhance an established landscape\, you’ll leave with a curated list of native plants that provide high-impact support for our local winged friends. You will gain the foundational knowledge needed to foster a bird- and bee-friendly habitat right in your own backyard\, ensuring your garden is a place where nature can truly flourish. Come ready to learn how a few intentional choices can make a world of difference for our local environment.  \nInstructor Jeanne Arnts is a Durham County Extension Master Gardener and NC Journeyman Beekeeper and has certificates in Native Plants from the NC Botanical Garden and Bird Friendly Habitat Committee of the New Hope Bird Alliance. \nThe cost is $15 per person and includes a small gift and a coupon to shop at the Garden Center.
