Postal Fish Co. and Vino Wine Shop are excited to bring you this dinner featuring French Winemaker Michele D’Aprix.
Michele D’Aprix’s wine affair began in 1997 when she walked into the cellar at Dry Creek Vineyard, her first job interview at a winery and, from there, she went on to graduate from UC Davis, and headed to Bordeaux to train with the accomplished and highly regarded winemaker, Stephane Derenocourt. Fully immersed, Michele studied his methodology in both the vineyard and cellar, combining the fine art of organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking. Michele was ready to add her own touch and started her solo project in Montagne-Emilion, calling it “Pentimento.”
Her current mission is to redefine Bordeaux for a new generation of wine lovers–strip down the intimidation and notoriety of the region, and make it more approachable to the everyday drinker. Michele is currently the ONLY American woman making wine in Bordeaux. She also makes a handful of wines from Costieres-de-Nimes, Rhone Valley. Not only does Michele make some fabulous wines, she also has ties to Pittsboro–her brother lives here.
Indeed, while this unusual and challenging time has certainly affected a lot of us, this time, it worked in our favor. Michele came to visit her brother and was unable to travel due to restrictions. We thought we’d take advantage of the situation and and have Michele and her wines in front of you, along with some fabulous food from Postal!
