Date Nights Series, 6pm-8pm Jan 27, Feb 25, Mar 3
The Travelling Cafe’s popular Friday night Date Nights will continue into 2023! Chef Leslie will provide tips and techniques with a mix of demonstration and hands-on learning while you mix and mingle with other couples for a fun and tasty night out with your special someone. Upcoming themes include Floribbean, Southern, and Tel Aviv.
Sat, Jan 28, 11am-1pm Greek/Cypriot Entertaining
Company is coming – what do you prepare? Well if you lived in Greece, you might wine and dine your visitors with this high end menu that Chef Stefanie has created to share with you, including Afelia and Glikia Kolokithopita. You can expect to have an evening of hands-on learning, complete with informative tidbits about the health and nutritional aspects of your creations.
Sun, Jan 29, 2pm-4pm Hungarian Comfort Food
In the winter time, when the air is chilled and the wind is whipping, there is nothing we crave more than comfort foods. Hungarian food is ideal to fill this hole with is hearty dishes, brimming with meats, veggies, and sauces. Chef Luis has a knack for this type of cuisine and will transform The Travelling Cafe culinary space into a Hungarian comfort food learning zone.
Sat, Feb 4, 2pm-4pm Knife Skills
Chef Jessica Sheppard of The Running Fork is a Sanford-based personal chef who cooks for people with special dietary needs. She’s also a competitive athlete, so her discipline in the kitchen and in life gives her all the “edge” she needs to teach knife skills! The menu will include winter fruit salsa over whipped goat cheese on sweet potato crostini, blackened shrimp and avocado cucumber bites, and loaded baked potato soup.
Garden To Table Series, Sundays, 4pm-6pm Feb 5, Mar 12
Come think outside the box with a focus on using meats, veggies, and fruits in out of the ordinary ways that your taste-buds will be tickled over. The Garden to Table series with Instructor Merrill Gates, focuses on turning seasonal produce into creative and delicious delicacies. Upcoming themes include Stored Roots and Spring Fresh.
Fri, Feb 10, 6pm-9pm Cajun Feast for the Senses
Mel Melton and The Wicked Mojos will be in the studio for a third time for a culinary and musical celebration of the magic that is New Orleans. Mel is the former Chef/Owner of Papa Mojos in Durham, and he and his Zydeco band will be tickling your ears while The Travelling Cafe chefs demonstrate cooking a good ol’ Louisiana hearted meal! You will wine and dine as if down on the bayou.
Travelling Through Italy Series, Sundays, 4pm-6pm Feb 12, Mar 5
Your Instructor, Daniela Gehman, a second generation Italian American, is a whiz with flavors, textures, and baking! She is willing to share her expertise with you in this class exploring Italy’s various regions and their culinary offerings. Upcoming themes include Puglia and Calabria.
Fri, Feb 17, 6pm-8pm Dim Sum Class
Join Wendy Panell on this culinary experience making Dim Sum. Wendy grew up in Beijing and learned to shop markets and cook at her parents’ sides. She has authentic family recipes as well as those gathered from traveling around the world. She loves that food brings people together, makes people connected and happy! Come enjoy this authentic cooking experience!
Sat, Feb 18, 10am-12pm Kids Make Brunch
Let the kids come make breakfast/brunch with Instructor Daniela! They will learn age appropriate food preparation skills. You may drop off your child, or purchase a ticket for yourself and join the fun. Ages 8-12. Menu includes build-your-own quiche, fruit salad with homemade whipped cream, and pancakes from scratch with homemade syrup.
Sun, Feb 19, 4pm-6pm Indonesian Irresistibles
Indonesia’s picturesque beaches and its tropical flora and fauna are only the beginning of what makes it alluring…its food is a gastronomic marvel! And you Instructor Merrill Gates, who lived in the Indonesian capital, is here to bring the delicacies of this far off land to you. This class will give you, and your taste-buds, a sample of the real deal Indonesian food fare, via an Indonesian spread: soup, a main dish, bread, and dessert.
Sat, Mar 4, 10:30am-12:30pm Teens in the Kitchen: Let’s Make Ravioli
Pasta is always a favorite and homemade pasta is even more delicious! Teens, spend a couple hours with Daniela in The Travelling Cafe cucina and maybe homemade pasta can become your personal specialty (to eat AND to make)! Learn to make pasta from scratch, two different fillings (ricotta spinach and sausage and kale), two different sauces (marinara and creamy mushroom) and mini cannoli cups!
Fri, Mar 17, 7pm-9pm Dry St. Pat’s Dublin Pub Night
Trying to go light on the alcohol this spring? There are plenty of bars in the area with great drinks. Come to The Travelling Cafe to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and experience pub food at its best, without the alcohol. Head to Dublin for a menu fresh out of the Temple Bar with all the fun but none of the hangover! Children 12 and older are welcome!
