Sparkman Cellars Dinner with Chris Sparkman and Chef Charlie Deal
Fearrington Wine Director Maximilian Kast welcomes Sparkman Cellars founders Chris and Kelly Sparkman for this exciting dinner event. Sparkman Cellars, like many wineries in Washington State, is located in the winery city of Woodinville right outside of Seattle. The Sparkmans started the winery almost a decade ago in a wish to develop a family business for themselves and there children. Out of this grand adventure has come some amazing wines from some of the top vineyard sites in Washington State. Their wines have been highly praised by Wine & Spirits Magazine, Wine Spectator, and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. The winery produces a range of outstanding wines, made from the grapes that make Washington shine, Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. As a special treat this evening, Fearrington Executive Chef Colin Bedford will be joined in the kitchen by guest chef Charlie Deal, chef-owner of the Triangle restaurants Jujube and Dos Perros!

Fullsteam Brewery Beer Dinner with Sean Wilson
Join Maximilian Kast for a beer dinner with Sean Wilson, owner of Fullsteam Brewery in Durham North Carolina! Fullsteam Brewery opened for business in 2010 with the desire to create “Distinctly Southern Beer.” Chief Executive Optimist Sean Wilson, who is very involved in the Southern Foodways Alliance, has partnered with Zymologist Chris Davis and Operations Manager Brooks Hamaker (former Brew Master of Abita Brewing Company) to create some of the most intriguing beers in the country. The brewery tries to use as many local ingredients as possible for their beers, with the hope one day to make beer with all North Carolina ingredients. In the meantime they use such items as Chatham County Persimmons, Chatham County Paw Paw, and North Carolina Sweet Potatoes.

Authentique Vin Imports Wine Dinner with importer Thomas Meunier
Local importer extraordinaire Thomas Meunier joins Maximilian Kast for an unforgettable evening of French wine! Meunier, originally from France, started his wine career at Domaine Frederick Mabileau in Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, in the Loire Valley in France. He was their international sales manager for six years. It was here that he developed his plan to start his import business. Working harvest with Frederick each year and seeing the energy, story, and love that went into the wines, Thomas wanted to start an importing business focused on family owned wineries, making wines that express their place, their maker, and their culture. His efforts have proven an impressive showing, with beautiful wines from Burgundy, Bordeaux, and the Loire Valley - this is sure to be a dinner to remember.

Sunday, April 10
Elk Cove Vineyards Wine Dinner with Adam Campbell
Elk Cove’s Owner and Winemaker Adam Campbell visits for an exciting wine dinner! Elk Cove is one of the pioneers of the Willamette Valley. Pat and Joe Campbell started the winery in 1974, a time when there were hardly a handful of wineries in the valley. Their son Adam Campbell joined his parents in 1995 and is now in charge of all winemaking. From the beginning their focus has been on single vineyard Pinot Noirs, and now with 220 acres of estate vineyards they make a range of amazing wines. From Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling to their single vineyard Pinot Noirs, all of the wines show a true sense of place, purity and elegance.

Blackbird Vineyards Dinner with Paul Leary
Maximilian Kast welcomes Blackbird’s President Paul Leary to Fearrington. Michael Polenske purchased the Blackbird vineyard in 2003 with the vision of making right-bank inspired Bordeaux Blends. His vineyard has a predominance of clay based soils which are a key to growing superior Merlot. The winery is run by President Paul Leary who also has created Maisonry which is a studio of art, boutique wine showcasing, and interior design. Their wines are some of the best examples of Merlot and Cabernet Franc Dominant wines in the United States.

Sunday, November 13
Perception Winery Dinner with Mark Ray
Founder of Perception Winery Mark Ray joins Maximilian Kast for this dinner event. Ray started off as a Sommelier in Charleston, South Carolina. On a visit to Napa Valley he made the decision that what he really wanted to do was to make wine. From that moment on he worked with some of the best winemakers in the country from Ehren Jordan at Turley and Neyers Vineyards to Bob Cabral at Williams Selyem. In 2007 he ventured out along with his partners Shane MacNicolas and Dean Felber to start Perception Winery. Here he focuses on the production of elegant single vineyard Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel.
