Chatham County’s third winery opened late summer 2010. A family of Starrs joins our collection with Starrlight Mead, our first honey winery (mead is honey wine). Owners Becky Starr (Sales/Tasting Room Manager) and Ben Starr (Meadmaker) have made this a family affair and son Chris is the beekeeper.

All of the honey is from North Carolina. Taste their already award-winning mead, which edged out more than 200 entries in the International Mead Association’s 2006 competition. Ben and Becky won Best in Show in the Home Mead-Maker category for their Starrlight Mulled Apple Cyser.

NC Hops and Roots Fest
Enjoy lots of local music, food, wine, and beer! Starrlight Mead will be there for the second year, pouring our meads to the tunes of local bands. Proceeds go to support NC Blues in the Schools.

Mead and Sunset Cruise on Jordan Lake

Imagine you and your honey on a boat at sunset sipping on some honey wine!! We’ll start your adventure with a tasting for two, at Starrlight Mead in Pittsboro, of all of their delicious meads (honey wines). You will be lead through the tasting of each of eight meads and be able to select a bottle to take with you as your adventure continues at Jordan Lake. You will meet Captain Don at the marina and cruise the lake with Triangle Boat Tours as the sun dips below the horizon, enjoying the sights and sounds of the wildlife who make their home at the lake. Don’t forget your camera!
Tasting: noon - 4pm
Cruise: 6:30pm – 8:30pm (6pm - 8pm Aug and Sep)
Limit: 12 people
Mead Club Members save $10 per couple!
Includes: Mead tasting, two souvenir glasses, and a bottle of mead to share ($26 value, additional bottle charge may apply for some meads), two-hour sunset cruise of Jordan Lake ($72 value). Single price is one tasting, glass, and a bottle, plus cruise.
