Chatham County’s third winery opened late summer 2010. A family of Starrs joins our collection with Starrlight Mead, our first honey winery (mead is honey wine). Owners Becky Starr (Sales/Tasting Room Manager) and Ben Starr (Meadmaker) have made this a family affair and son Chris is the beekeeper.

All of the honey is from North Carolina. Taste their already award-winning mead, which edged out more than 200 entries in the International Mead Association’s 2006 competition. Ben and Becky won Best in Show in the Home Mead-Maker category for their Starrlight Mulled Apple Cyser.

Mead-ieval Day
The lovely Mead Wenches have decided that St. Patrick's Day is as good an excuse as any to Drink Mead! Show up in costume, and your tasting is free! (Sorry, a "Kiss me I'm Irish" t-shirt is not good enough! You have to at least put on a green wig!)

Rumor has it that Thunder and Spice will be stopping by for a song or two and a wee sip of Mead around 5pm on their way to City Tap (7pm - 9pm) and Davenport & Winkleperry's (9pm - 11pm) that evening! Stop in for a glass of mead to start off your evening!

We'll have some lovely Renaissance music from a local recorder group for your entertainment and enjoyment.

Starrlight Mead is a sponsor of North Carolina's newest fantasy faire! Frolic with all manner of creatures mythical and enjoy fine Meads and beer while a host of extraordinary entertainers performs on our stages; peruse unique artist's creations and dance to the the tune of tribal drums!  Adults $12, children 12 and under $6, under 3 free!
