Siler City, NC—A celebration of longtime Siler City, North Carolina, resident’s life takes place on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Milo Holt’s Western Film Festival. Milo Holt was founder of the Western Historical Preservation Society for B-Western movies more than three decades ago. He maintained a museum in his home, a single-wide trailer, was the founder of the Ole Time Western Film Club, hosted a convention and published a bimonthly newsletter distributed to subscribers globally. The festival celebrates his life and passion for western films. Siler City will host several celebrities, including James Best, known for his character Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, in the CBS television series The Dukes of Hazzard. Dick Jones, a cowboy and once a part of Our Gang in Little Rascals, is also scheduled to appear. Donna Martell, featured in movies with Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, is also scheduled to attend the festival. Several cowboys throughout the country are also attending the festival and will participate in activities, including movie-style shoot-outs, rope tricks, and more.
The festival will highlight western movies (shown throughout the day), activities for children, food, art exhibits and a multitude of western-themed festivities for all ages. Musical guests already scheduled include The Trailblazers, The Rocky River Cowboys and others.
Guests will find ample time to explore historic downtown Siler City and visit the booths to browse, shop and eat. Good food, music, children's activities and other festivities will give visitors ample opportunities to enjoy the event and the area while in town. Siler City is home to a great mix of hotels and bed & breakfast inns.
Booth spaces range from $25.00 to $50.00. Marketing and promotion of the event has already begun and will be aggressive, with opportunities for publicity from now through the event date on May 19, 2012.
Sponsorship opportunities are available and promotion of the event, which anticipates an attendance of approximately 800 – 1,000 guests. Contact Linda Lehman, Festival Chairperson, for specific questions and sponsorship information, 919.742.4034
