Medicinal Herbs—Traditional Uses

Florist’s flowers don’t hold a candle to what you can grow in your own garden. Learn how to create a naturalistic or artistic arrangement with plants that grow in your own garden. Bring your lunch and a vase. Workshop will include an arrangement you will make to take home with you.
Workshop is limited to 20 adults. Registration fee of $15.00 and Pre-Payment is required.

The Joys of Backyard Chickens
Learn about the 15 reasons for having backyard chickens, guidelines for selecting breeds, housing, feeding, and keeping them healthy. Workshop will include experience feeding and handling chickens and fresh eggs to take home.
Workshop is limited to 20 adults. Registration fee of $15.00 and Pre-Payment is required.

Growing and Using Citrus, Tropical Fruits and Herbs
Enjoy a tropical adventure learning about fruits you may have never tasted. Sources for plants if you decide to try your hand at growing your own. Workshop includes recipes, culinary uses, Kitchen Demonstration, Tastings, Fruit, and a Calamondin seed to plant and take home.
Workshop is limited to 20 adults. Registration fee of $30.00 and Pre-payment is required.

The Mysteries of Growing and Using Ginger
When you grow your own Ginger in North Carolina, you harvest before maturity, resulting in the sweetest, tastiest, Ginger imaginable, without the fibrousness of grocery-store Ginger. Workshop includes growing instruction, harvesting tips, Culinary Demonstration, Tastings, and fresh Ginger to take home.
Workshop is limited to 20 adults. Registration fee of $30.00 and Pre-payment is required.

Workshops can be scheduled separately or attached to tours or other offerings: Crafts making, using fresh or dried herbs and flowers; Vinegars and Teas made with herbs and flowers; Kitchen preparation using herbs and plants collected in the garden.

Attracting bats and purple martins for insect control.
Attracting, hosting, and protecting birds in the garden.
Painting and photographing on site: Professional or amateur individuals or groups may reserve areas for their exclusive use.

Directions
Take US1 south, toward Sanford.  Take the Asheboro exit and turn right onto Hwy 42.
You have about 22 miles to go on 42— cross the Deep River, go through Carbonton, cross the Goldston-Siler Rd, pass dairies, signs for Southern Supreme Fruitcake, etc.  Eventually, you will see a road sign for intersection ahead (+).
At that intersection, you will see Ronald Scott Road on the right and Calvin Phillips Rd on the left.  Turn left onto Calvin Phillips Rd.
The next road on the right is Clarence Phillips Rd.  Turn right onto Clarence Phillips Rd.  About halfway down that road you will see on your left our white mailbox with 421 and a blue Bluebird Hill Farm sign on it.
Take the drive back down into the pasture and across a little creek where you will find the farm.
